Thanks Mandy, I was planning to submit this today. I've given up on rabbits by itself, and this got a lot of support early on.

A book connected to Birds, Bees, or Bunnies.
This could be:
1) Books with one or more of these creatures (in the title, cover, or subject matter).
2) Books connected to them together. "The birds and the bees" -suggests pollination, eco-systems, evolutionary biology, and sex education. All together with rabbits they suggest friskiness, mating, reproduction, childbirth, and nature. (I don't want to say sex, but...)

I wonder if this is regional. To me, "art" is painting, sculpture, etc. I know dance and acting are performing arts, so technically they are also art, but if I just say "art" I mean "visual arts." If you take art class in school, it's drawing or painting or sculpture, if you go to an art museum, it's drawing or painting or sculpture or photos or sometimes video. Perhaps you don't use the terms the same way.

I'm with you Nadine. If you just say "art," I'm thinking drawing/sculpting/etc. FWIW my husband is an art teacher and what he teaches is definitely restricted to visual arts.

And if you said "the arts," then I would think performing art, and probably not including visual art.

Maybe. I did go to art college though so maybe just a different education. I did photography, so there were people who thought we weren't really doing art.

I think a BA is given to any degree that's not STEM, so it includes history and languages. I wouldn't called a historian an artist but maybe they would disagree! 😁

How weird! But isn't part of accreditation determining which degrees a school can bestow?

Google answer is "While many universities offer the same majors in either a BS or a BA, that doesn’t mean that they are the same degree...BAs typically have a lower number of credit hours for the major" (there's a chart with 36 for BA vs 54 for BS )

My daughter graduated this spring, The difference between a BA and a BS in her field was whether or not she completed two semesters of a foreign Language. - She actually has a BS in Global Leadership Studies and one in Corporate Communication.

I wouldn't be surprised that BA has lower hours needed, I had a ton of elective credits because my degree only had so many required credits (it was a long time ago and I don't remember how many). For my school at least, there was no BS option for that degree, so BA it was.

Not that it matters since I'm not working in that field anyway!

Interesting. In England it is sually by subject the only oen I know of where both options commonly exist is geography

Just to jump back to the genealogy prompt for a second, I really liked the idea but wasn't such a fan of the wording. I wonder if there's a way to make it a little more clear/concise, without losing the meaning?

Honestly, I think it depends what the prompt is up against. Like I don't really enjoy reading about music, but I like music and could probably find something that would fit. I do quite like stories about ruthless ballet dancers or I could read about film or something. It's such a big topic.

I love the retellings idea. I know there was some talk about how to describe it and what to include. After it was brought up I found a book called Peter Darling that is a retelling of Peter Pan, and also a trans story, as it sounds like Peter Pan and Wendy Darling are actually the same person. I'd love to read how that all is handled.

I agree! I never would have thought of this idea, but it sounds interesting and there could be SO many books that it would encompass. I would vote for this one.

I did a degree in International Development, which to all intents and purposes is human geography with some anthropology thrown in, and we could choose BA or BSc depending on what we chose for our dissertation. Mine was on education policies in Rwanda and was deemed more 'BA-ish' but my coursemate, who did exactly the same modules as me all the way through, did hers on agricultural policies in Sri Lanka and got a BSc.

I think it should just be phrased "apartment building". When I saw "apartment building or house", I thought it meant any kind of house, which would be almost every book. I don't know if in some countries a multi-unit dwelling is called an "apartment house", but I've never heard that.

I don't read a lot of books set in houses OR apartment buildings, so I don't think it's too broad as it is. I just looked at books I've read in 2022, and 16% of them involve a house, another 12% were set in an apartment building, and - to my surprise - 2% were set in a hotel! (The Maid and Front Desk)

Which award(s) are the most popular? With many awards, I like to consider the short-lists or nominees as well.

Retellings seem to be suggested every year but never get voted in. People's instant reactions seem to be "I hate fairy tales" without realizing that that is but a tiny part of retellings.

For the apartment prompt what about "a book that is set exclusively indoors"? Or is that too narrow?

Love the Australian awards prompt idea. I've been meaning to read more Stella nominees.

I think I would enjoy reading a book about people living in an apartment building - as a small community. It might be interesting to read about budding friendships, mysterious neighbors, or people dealing with a crisis together. My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry had an interesting plot like that. Or maybe a Rear Window type of mystery (with someone who might have observed a murder).

It wouldn't be as interesting to search for a book about a character who happens to live in an apartment (versus a house).

I don't think it's too broad, it might even be too narrow. The list that was posted had a few I liked and one on my tbr. I've probably read many others that I just can't think of at the moment.
