Chapter 1 - 8 :(view spoiler)[So Calaena is supposed to be some kind of super assassin but we haven't seen her in action yet, I am liking Chaol and Calaena's chemistry, also hoping she isn't paired with the prince! Excited to read about the competition between various assassins! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 - 13 : (view spoiler)[Cain seems interesting. Lady Kaltain is a bit bitchy lol and Princess Nehemia might have some hidden agenda! I wonder with whom is Calaena’s romance in this book! On one hand, Chaol and her have the perfect chemistry, on other she is believed to be Prince’s lover by the court and that kiss! I did not like that at all! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 36 -45 : (view spoiler)[Cain turned out to be the murderer!!! That was a bit shocking. Also, I can't understand what Lady Kaltain is hiding about herself because there's definitely something. I wonder how Calaena will win the Test now what with all the Duke and Katlain's conspiracy and Cain's strength! (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[The duel was SO GOOD! Katlain was sent to prison but i still feel like there's something about her we dont know. Also, what are the Duke and King planning? I was a little happy ngl when Calaena told Chaol that she ended it with the Prince lol. Elena's message was so cryptic and there are so many secrets yet to be revealed. This was great! Gonna start this soon - it'll be the THIRD time I've read it but I WILL go on to read the rest of the series this time! Anyone want to buddy the series - I think I need the motivation!

It is frustrating not to see what she's capable of at the beginning. And I really wanted to know more about her life before she was in Endovia; we don't get much and it's tantalising! (hide spoiler)]

Don't worry - I was confused too, there are a LOT of characters! I even considered making a character list (which I might still do actually because I don't know which characters are going to return in the sequels...)

Celeana is SUCH a brat. She's just a fairly annoying character and that stopped me enjoying this book so much the other times but i WILL PERSIST lol. She's meant to be this amazing assassin but acts like a child having temper tantrums half the time.

I'd forgotten about the whole champions being killed off thing - I remember now, but it shows how non-memorable I found the book in general... (hide spoiler)]

I'd forgotten how much magic there is in this book! I'm also confused as to what is Terrasen and what is Ardoland - but I guess it doesn't matter that much lol.
The body being eaten and all its organs being taken out? - ew!

I guess that means Elena is definitely good... I'm suspicious (and surprised by how much I've forgotten since last time I read this!)

I'm not really into love triangles tbh, that part is just kind of pissing me off... I'm so unromantic! I guess I like Chaol better but that's mainly because we've had more of his PoV so we know him better. Nothing wrong with Dorian - he's arrogant but I think that comes with the territory of being a prince...

What is Kaltain up to? Does she just want to marry Dorian or is there something else going on? (genuinely can't remember haha!) (hide spoiler)]
