Today was the halfway point for our May read-a-thon. Are you hanging in there? Tell us...

What challenges and distractions have you faced?

What has been your favorite part so far?

Do you have a favorite activity?

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?

Is it actually Wednesday? It feels like... not.

What challenges and distractions have you faced?
Just finding the time and energy to read. And today especially, not being tied to my phone and the news.

What has been your favorite part so far?
Finally, finally, a push to actually read. It's been nice getting back into the groove.

Do you have a favorite activity?
I love the individual challenge that Jackie came up with, though I'm worried my concession stand will be sorely lacking.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
Finished two books! That's 1/3 of my reading for the month of May, so I'm pretty proud of it.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I'd like to finish two more print books by the end of May, and I have about 200 pages left to go in Deacon King Kong, so it might be a stretch to have them finished by Sunday, but hopefully a good start on the second print book. And I'd like to make my way into my audio, though it's 13 hours long so it's another one that I don't know if I'll finish before May is over.

A couple of appointments and a few hours of work each day. It's a pretty good week for me for a Readathon.

What has been your favorite part so far?
I'm enjoying both the team and the individual challenge.

Do you have a favorite activity?
Reading!

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've read three physical books and 3 audiobooks.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Listen to Matilda and one other audio. Finish reading Winter in Sokcho and The Unfinished Clue, plus a couple other books between 100-200 pages.

Sophia (jonquilles) | 192 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced? woof, just finding the energy! When I can actually concentrate it's been going great but my pagecounts have been either real high or real low and nothing in between.

What has been your favorite part so far? actually pushing myself to finish things has felt really nice!

Do you have a favorite activity? evening glass of wine + uninterrupted reading time = my new heaven

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I've finished a few things that i'd just been dragging my feet on and also a few new things that I've been meaning to get around to so that's been really lovely.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I am so bad at finishing audiobooks so I just want to knock that out before the readathon is over! (It's not even that long! I like this book, even! Why is it so hard to finish?!)

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments 1. I had family staying with us all weekend and part of Monday, so took me a bit to get started.
2. I love the miles of pages. it's so much fun!
3. I really enjoy the categories. my favorite is either the roller coaster or ferris wheel because those prompts hit a lot of my favorite genres.
4. I've read 4 books/30ish hours worth of audio which is pretty great for just a few days.
5. I'd like to read at least 2 more books and hopefully hit around 50 hours of audio total.

It was the long weekend, so I ended up going out of town to visit family, and then yard work.

What has been your favorite part so far? Do you have a favorite activity?
I always love the miles of pages journey, but I really do love the individual challenge menu building.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
So far I've managed to finish a book a day, which is great, and I did finish the one book before the library took it away, but I was hoping the read-a-thon would help get me back reading Wheel of Time, and yet all the other books I got for the read-a-thon keep distracting me. 😋

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Have fun.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) What challenges and distractions have you faced? The day after I signed up for the group challenge, I found out that the renovations on our rental cabin needed to be done a month earlier than originally scheduled. We have a week to do a month's worth of work. 😆

What has been your favorite part so far?
The park theme of the readathon is a lot of fun, I just wish I had more time to enjoy it!

Do you have a favorite activity? My favorite activity is trying to stay awake long enough to read more than 20 pages of my physical book each night. 🤣

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I completed two short books on audio.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I hope to complete at least two more books, one on audio and one physical book. I might get in another audio if I have one that is less that 4-5 hours long. It all depends on how well I can focus!

message 8: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 428 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced? I've actually been reading more this week than all this year so I"ve got that going for me.

What has been your favorite part so far? Getting the push I needed to get back into reading

Do you have a favorite activity? Sitting outside with my book

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I started an urban fantasy series on Thursday. I finished the eighth book today. Don't judge me!

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? Keep reading and resist the urge to start the second series in the same universe. Or not. We'll see.

I thought this was going to be an ideal readathon week for me since it fell at a time where I had a full day off, and no work to do over the first weekend. Unfortunately, the first half of the week ended up being a pretty high-anxiety time for me because of a (stupid) work situation, and the week in general has been exhausting.

What has been your favorite part so far?
The fact that my team very nicely allowed me to vent about my work stress in the thread. Thanks everyone!

Do you have a favorite activity?
To be honest, the only thing I've really been paying attention to is the team challenge, so I think I'd have to go with that.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I read one of my most highly anticipated books from last year that I'd somehow missed, and also finished off one of my most highly anticipated books of this year (which I started before the readathon, but definitely had more than enough left to count it).

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish at least 3 more books. It sounds like a lot considering it's currently Friday, but I'm about halfway through one book, plan on listening to an entire audiobook tomorrow while working, and then I have a couple of graphic novels in mind for Sunday.
