Series Speculations
Just a thought but am I the only one who sees Elom using Jace to evangelize to other ryriks? I mean we haven't really seen any ryriks since book 1 and then we saw the leader escape and I've just been waiting for him to show up again but he hasn't yet. It'd be super cool if Jace and/or Kyrin were to be captured (although hasn't that happened enough to them? ) by ryriks and together showed them that they do have souls and reunited them with Elom. Just a thought like I said, maybe it's been brought up before.
I'm really looking forward to read more about other races, the giants and ryriks in particular. I just love how much more interesting it makes the writing.I also love the idea of Jace evangelizing to the ryriks. They are such a difficult race to accept love or anything relate Elom that would be a God side task for Jace, I'm afraid.
So hello! Is anyone else intrigued by the snippet in Jaye's newsletter? Where Jace is talking to Rayad about Rayad's love-life?
Kendra wrote: "I think Warin and .... Lenae? might be getting serious."Yes, Lenae.
And we don't even know what book that bit was from, do we?
And I'm actually not very curious about that particular snippet at all. I have my own Rayad speculations... But the teaser description of Exiles certainly makes me wonder what could happen in this book! :)
Yes, but I enjoy reading far more into things than is probably healthy. I'm more curious about WHY this conversation is happening - hence my speculation that it's indicating that Warrin and Lenae are getting serious.Kind of a "Hey, Rayad, your friend has found someone at his age. Why haven't you?"
Ahhh, I see what you're saying. You know, that could be what's happening. What I wouldn't give to know what's all going on right now at the desk of Jaye Knight!
Ah. That makes a lot of sense. In that case, much depends upon the emphasis of the conversation: i.e. is it, "So when are YOU going to find a wife?" or is that word not the emphasis of the sentence.
And fighting in the actually crete village or city. Also I am currently not worried about the possibility of Jace having to fight in the arena at Valcre.
It's gotta happen at SOME point though, right? I mean, Jaye would be missing out on an amaaazing point for Jace's character arc if she didn't put him back in the arena, except this time because of his faith in Elom.

My thought on reading the snippet was - what if Jace was captured and forced to fight against Daniel in the new arena. Might be stretching it, and Jace+arena might be a different book (Seems more logical to me)- but I do expect to see Jace in the new arena in some capacity at some point, unfortunately.
Resterwen wrote: "My thought on reading the snippet was - what if Jace was captured and forced to fight against Daniel in the new arena. Might be stretching it, and Jace+arena might be a different book (Seems more l..."I'll actually be kind of dissapointed if that doesn't happen.
(Hi everybody.)
@Karis Same. It'll break my heart too (any time something bad happens to Jace my heart breaks....like the dungeon scene at the palace in SP!) but I still kind of want it to happen.....I feel like it'll be amazing to see how the "new" Jace reacts to something from his past.@Resterwen That is a really cool idea!!
@A.L. Hi! :)
You know once I read the back matter of Exiles, I almost immediately went to go pray for Prince Daniel. And then I was like, "Oh, yes, he's fictional. Right." Does anyone else do this?
I don't know that I've ever prayed for a character, but I have had mental conversations with their authors."You are going to get them through this, right? No? Okay, I'm trusting that you have a plan..."
Natalie wrote: "Karis,YES. Like Resterwen, I sometimes pray for them while reading! xD"
Okay, I'm glad to know that other people do it too :)
@ Kendra I never heard of somepne doing that before. But I can see why you would, with you being an author in all.
Kendra wrote: "I don't know that I've ever prayed for a character, but I have had mental conversations with their authors."You are going to get them through this, right? No? Okay, I'm trusting that you have a p..."
Haha I have conversations with the author, too!!! XD Glad I'm not the only one!
Okay, so apparently the resistance camp gets swept by some manner of disease in Bitter Winter, and its bad enough to force Jace into a desparate position to obtain the cure. I get the feeling some people we know are going to either die or come pretty close. Anyone want to place bets?Actually, nobody comes to mind as an obvious fate character, at least not in this book specifically. But some seem more likely than others.
Sarah Grace wrote: "Noooooo, Anne must not die."I mean, I totally agree with you. NO ONE MUST DIE. But somebody's gotta if there's a big sickness thing. :(
Stargazer wrote: "[spoilers removed]But you know, Jaye has been quite lenient so far. Points for her. :) [spoilers removed]"
Oh, okay. Whew! I don't know why I thought that . . . Had a minor (okay, giant) panic moment there for a sec. XD He's one of my favorite characters . . .
Lady Anne did cross my mind. So did Rayad. But every time I start to talk myself into something, my mind is like, "No, she wouldn't." But what about Timothy? Personally, I think he could definitely go before the end. But it seems more likely that it would be later, and probably as a martyr, rather than by sickness.
Children seem likely targets...but I hope not!
I don't want tot think about people dying. Some background characters are certainly going to die. Probably someone like Trev. I tend to forget his existence most of the time anyway. Though because of that, the death will lack emotional impact and feel like it's just there for the numbers, and Jaye isn't prone to that. The deaths have to change something.

Though because ..."That's right. But then again, sometimes even the serious threat of death could be enough. I wonder if Kyrin gets it bad. I imagined she would be one of the people holding things together and nursing the sick, but what if she had it bad?
Personally, I think she loves Timothy and Leetra too much do let them go. But he'd definitely go as a martyr if he did.Rayad, as we've all said, is so obvious, she might actually not.
Aaron just got a short story and a girl, so he'll be fine....
Kaden? She wouldn't dare. Would she? Nah.
Basically I think:
Jace, Kyrin, Kaden, Aaron, Daniel, and Elinor will make it (even if they're sick for a bit).
After that, I don't feel certain.
I have one request: Not Holden or Talas. Pleeeease??? :(
80% of my Anne theory is based off the BBC Robin Hood... the other20% (view spoiler)
But yeah, the threat might be big enough just a couple very minor people at Camp die, and everyone else'll be okay? Maybe?
No children! D:
Kyrin is totally getting it bad, but I know she'll make it.
But lets face it... We'll love it anyway. :)
As a beta reader, I can tell you a pretty major character does die and it broke my heart. I'm pretty sure the death will lead to something I've been hoping for, but I'm still not okay with it.
Addyson wrote: "As a beta reader, I can tell you a pretty major character does die and it broke my heart. I'm pretty sure the death will lead to something I've been hoping for, but I'm still not okay with it."Gasp!
(I'll be fine unless it's Kaden or Talas. That would be like killing the dog.)

Yay! We get to go to the Crete country! I've been looking forward to when we get there! It's seems just so intriguing!
