yeah but since they were 9-12 year old books they avoided it. but I have to agree with you and I know this sounds horrible but I tend to enjoy sad books.

No, I totally understand!! I enjoy them too, even though my heart is broken. :( That's one of the reasons I enjoyed TKS so much, I also really love the characters, it's not often I can relate/connect to a fictional character emotionally. Awesome job Jaye!!!!
I'm just going to say that if... if Ms. Jaye/Molly kills Rayad it will probably be in the last book. I just can't imagine a book without Rayad, so she'll (if she does) probably kill him at the end or not at all. I mean, she'll probably have an epic battle at the end and he might die then.
Guys! I had a horrible thought! I don't think Jaye L. Knight would kill off Kyrin, but what if she maimed her really bad! Like made it where her arm gets chopped off or her eye gets gouged out! Then Kyrin would have to learn to live with her new injury, and the roles of Jace and Kyrin would be switched! Jace is the one who encourages Kyrin and Kyrin is the one down on herself. Who could ever love half a person? (Well not really but you get the idea)
That sounds horrible! No! Jaye is going to invent character bubble wrap and keep them safe foreverrrrrrrrr.
NO. I DO NOT THINK SO. *says it loudly to make sure Jaye hears*(Jaye, if you kill off the main characters, I will die with them.)
Haha bubble wrap! I like it! Wait... Bubble wrap isn't invented yet right? Maybe THAT'S what the arena like thing is in Arcacia, a bubble wrap factory!!!!
Yeah me too, better than the idea that Jace might fight in the arena. I think it would tear me up to see him forced to fight again. :,(
That would be horrible. But going on Pirates & Faith and Makilien, I think all the mains will survive to the end intact.
Jaye? Soooo, Firefly and I were talking yesterday (well, talking, as in half fangirl noises and half actual words) and, um, could you maybe tell us if "The Rift" occurs before or after "The Kiss"? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease? *hopeful smile*
Some reason I am not overly affected by worrying. It may sound heartless, but I'm enjoying reading about everyone worrying.I know everything will be okay in the end.
My reaction when I read the sneak peek you've been talking about was, "She's teasing the Jayrin shippers." Not that I don't think that they belong together.
Not sure if this comment should go under this thread, or "Series Suggestions"...probably this one... :/*finishes reading chapter 24*
Either a total redemption for the General (what would have to happen for that to even be possible????), or a Shredder-like death scene...
Though he seems more like one of those characters that would survive to the end/near the end, and either do something silly that would get himself killed, or get off "easy" and be banished... *broods*
I think he is going to become one of the main bad guys, like up there acting with Richard. Maybe Daican will even use him to act all redemptive to gain information about the Resistance!

Sarah wrote: "I think he is going to become one of the main bad guys, like up there acting with Richard. Maybe Daican will even use him to act all redemptive to gain information about the Resistance!"That's even worse than what he did before. *most of wish for redemption is gone, replaced by longing for death by garbage truck* *tries to tell self that all will come out right in the end* o_o
Well, someone (I forget who) and I were speculating on this earlier, where a Jesus figure would fit in, and Jaye seemed to indicate that there would be one.All in all, I'm quite intrigued by the decision to actually address Old Testament sacrifices.
Definitely! I'm curious about the possibility of Jace being the Jesus figure... he's obviously not perfect, but... idk.
I was really interested about that too. I had been wondering where Jesus would fit in and whether there would be a church of some sort...
I think I placed it around the time of the early church, before the excerpt, obviously. And I really don't think Jace is the Jesus figure. Unless we're talking about a "type of Christ" like Moses or David, and not an allegorical Jesus figure
The "church" is the Resistance. Greek = ecclesia = called out ones. The Resistance are called out of the masses - called to rule, and pray, and stand.
That was really interesting. I guess I always assumed it was in NT times, what with Timothy and all...Interesting. Very interesting indeed. I'm looking forward to seeing how the sacrifices thing pans out.
Must have been the Romanish culture that caused those assumptions. :) I haven't equated it to any particular real time, but I figured Elom's Son was coming sometime based on Jaye's hints. :)
Seeing as how there had been no references to a Jesus character, and Jaye's hint that there would be one, I had guessed that it was OT, although it certainly does have a more Early Church feel to it.
Okay, good, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the Old Testament twist. The lamb sacrifice threw me off for a second...I was like, "Wait, Blood has already covered our sins once and for all!" And then I was like, "ooooooooooh..." So twill be interesting to see where this goes!
The setting doesn't feel quite right for a Jesus figure. I'm not sure I want one. But then Jaye is sure to do it well. It's just the most allegorized thing ever. Hard to make it feel original.
The Israelites were already controlled by the Romans when Jesus came, so Romanish culture doesn't necessarily mean Early Church. Just the history nerd in me speaking out. :)The lamb sacrifice definitely intrigued me.

It is very common in allegories. It's important, though. You can't have salvation without the Ultimate Sacrifice. Which means if SP is OT, there has to be one in the future. Theologically speaking. But she would do it well. Just like Jayrin romance is surely done well. :D
I know it's important. I've just seen it the same way too many times. I've tried to put my own story in an imaginary part of our world to avoid having to deal with it. And in some ways I suppose the slightly different context could make it more powerful. It actually can't be done one of the common ways.
