Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments So why does Jace worry so much about not having a soul?

message 152: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments Ever since he was a small child, everyone told him that he was an animal and a soulless monster because that's how the other races perceive ryriks. Even if someone brought your point up to him, the soulless monster thing is an irrational fear ingrained into him when he was too young to be reasoned out of it, and so it stays. It's Jace's "lie".

message 153: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments Okay. That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure.

That is a great point! Take that Jace! You have a soul! :D

I posted a sneak peek for Samara's Peril on the Ilyon blog. I thought I'd share the link here for anyone who wants to speculate on it. ;)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments Cool! Not much to speculate on though... But I am very curious to know what in the world is going on. Looks like Anne will be a bigger character in this one maybe. That'd be cool! Is Rayad pretending to be Anne's . . . something? Not sure what.

Jaye Knight (jayelknight) | 389 comments Mod
Head of security. ;)

message 158: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments Wow, I got an answer. Rayad would make an AWESOME head of security. :D

Speculation: If Rayad is head of security (for real or for fake) that means he just signed his death warrant. Mentors who try to protect people are extra goners.
So... Who thinks Rayad will die in this book? Or will Jaye save it for a different one? My thought is everything comes crashing down of Jace NOW. He learns about his parents, which messes him up. He remembers he's worried about not having a soul. Then Rayad dies. Boom. Jace is a wreak. What do ya think? (Not that I want this to happen. Like ever. *sniffs*)

...........I just had the most horrible thought ever. What if Tyra dies? That would be the last straw. For Jace. For me. For everyone. Tyra had better not die. If Tyra dies I think I'll just be out of here....
DON'T KILL TYRA. OKAY? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

message 159: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments Why does everyone think Rayad's going to die? It would be too horrible. I don't know for sure whether he survives to the end or not, but I don't think he's going to die.

message 160: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments He's the mentor. Of COURSE he's going to die.
I mean, I love him and he's awesome and I don't want him to die but everyone kills the mentor, so Rayad's a goner. :(

message 161: by Claire (new)

Claire Banschbach I don't think that Rayad will die. Jace, and now Kyrin, are dependent on him, not to mention the Resistance needs him too. After the events of TKS, everyone is going to have to be a whole lot stronger if (big if) he dies. Anyway, just my speculation.

message 162: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) This series doesn't have to be typical. Let's think of some happy things that could happen inthe next book. :)

message 163: by Katie (new)

Katie Grace (katiegracewrite) | 73 comments I'm happy to see more Anne in this book. :D And hopefully more of Trask. I'm horrible at speculating, so I'll just say that I'm really excited. :p

message 164: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments That'd be GREAT if he didn't die. I'm just positive he will because that's how it always goes... And if she killed off someone in the SECOND book, there must be more deaths in the next four, so logically one of them would be Rayad.

But this is no longer speculation but the "will Rayad die or not" thread... XD

message 165: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments Tamara wrote: "This series doesn't have to be typical. Let's think of some happy things that could happen inthe next book. :)"

That's my only hope for Rayad: that she knows its typical to kill the mentor so she won't.
Annnd, I just realized I don't think things can ever be happy in llyon. How'd I get that in my head. O_O

message 166: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Yes, well, we live in hope. Rayad is my next favorite character so...

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments Tamara wrote: "Yes, well, we live in hope. Rayad is my next favorite character so..."

Hope is a good thing! But I don't think Ilyon has much... Oh, owch, I hope he doesn't die extra now! He's not my favorite but I do love him a ton!

message 168: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments Jaye doesn't always kill the mentor. Makilien kept her father and Halandor, and Lord Elnauhir and Torick were still around, too. If I remember right, Sirion had an uncle that was around at the end. TPDP SPOILER Daniel McHenry was actually still alive, and Skye had an uncle, too. EVERY TEAR SPOILER Will had a good father who he found, who was the mentor sort, and Emma James definitely kept her mentor (her father, same as Will's). END PIRATES &FAITH SPOILERS. So, yes, William Altair died, and I guess mentors may die a lot, but I think there's plenty of hope for Rayad's survival. Surely Jaye wouldn't give us that sort of death twice.

message 169: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 541 comments I don't think she's going to kill Rayad - because killing her heroic cast really isn't her style, and certainly not her mentors. William was a last resort to make the series work, and unless there's no other options to make a plot work, she won't kill Rayad. Even if she does, it will be as gently as she can, and only because she has to. That's just my take on it.

And yes, there is hope in everything - that's the core message of Ilyon, even in the darkest of times, there still is light. Maybe it looks dark now in Ilyon, but we have four more books. Maybe there will be more deaths, maybe not. We'll have to see.

message 170: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments Ditto. I feel like I can trust Jaye not to kill characters unless there's absolutely no other choice. In fact, I think I can trust Jaye as an author more than any other.

Ha, you are too funny. Yes, I do believe that Rayad will die at some point, I don't want him to, but he has the unfortunate position of a character who feels like he will most likely die. If Jaye does choose to kill Rayad off it will break Jace's heart, but more than likely she will use the tragedy to give Jace even more assurance that his sense of security and wholeness rest in Elom alone. And, let's not forget, he would still have Kyrin left. Although, I do believe Jaye is going to make Jace and Ilyon fans alike sweat a bit on Kyrin's account. That girl is always getting into trouble. Poor Jace. And when they get married and have children? Oh my lands, the stress that man will be under trying to keep them all safe. Heehee, good luck to any gentleman who would be interested in the daughters of Jace. I suggest wearing a steel shirt under your garments my friend.

*laughs* I love the thought of protective-Daddy Jace! :D

message 174: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Protective Daddy Jace! AWWWW! *swoons happily* That would be so adorable!

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments Morgan wrote: "....Torick...."

*bangs head on desk repeatedly* I suppose there's only so many six-letter names in the world... *sigh* (One of my character's last name is Torick...)

You guys haven't figured out you can't console me with talk of "no other choice", have you? XD But ya'll know Jaye way better then I do, so maybe Rayad will survive! We won't know till it's over will we? ;)

Kendra wrote: "Woe betide any young man indeed! Oh, that's a speculation I like."

(This is why it needs to end before they have kids. This is also why I don't want them to have daughters... XD )

message 176: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments Oh, you've got to admit Jace holding a baby daughter would be way cute.

message 177: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments That would be absolutely adorable. *squeals*

message 178: by Ghost Ryter (new)

Ghost Ryter | 64 comments I just had this imagine of Jace and Kyrin's hypothetical daughter climbing onto Tyra's back and trying to ride her. Poor Tyra wouldn't know how to react. :D

message 179: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments But Tyra's so sweet, I'm sure she wouldn't hurt said hypothetical daughter. I imagine it ending like when a little girl tried to sit on my dog's back while my dog was laying down. My dog simply stood up, but had no other reaction. But who knows, if this daughter is little enough, she just might succeed in riding Tyra, which would be so cute. :)

message 180: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments I always get super excited and happy when I read through these threads. This said situation would be sweet. :)

message 181: by Ghost Ryter (new)

Ghost Ryter | 64 comments (Darn that auto-correct, I typed 'image', not 'imagine'.)
I was only thinking of Tyra just laying there and not doing anything, but her actually letting the daughter RIDE HER... *drowns in the adorableness*

message 182: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments That would be so sweet! AWWW!

*echoes the other Amanda about excitement and happiness*

message 183: by Micailah (new)

Micailah | 144 comments Oh my so much adorableness! :D Jace and Kyrin with kids= Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! But I have a theory (that I was afraid to mention until now). I have a feeling Jace is unable to have kids. Here's my logic: Jace was a slave, a RYRICK slave. They wouldn't want to chance on him...you know. And considering what most male Ryricks do to females....
Anyway, don't mean to burst anyone's bubble or anything. I'm probably wrong (I hope I'm wrong!). :) But let's look on the bright side if I'm right they can still adopt!

Ghost Ryter | 64 comments Just as this thread was starting to brighten up...

The thing is that that speculation makes as much sense as it is awful to think about. It's realistic. Would we hear about that sort of thing in "Half-Blood", maybe? Oh, Jace... *hugs him* *feeds him cookies*

message 185: by Micailah (new)

Micailah | 144 comments I know, and I'm sorry for bringing such a gloomy idea out into the open. *bows head*. The idea came to me when reading the book of Daniel for school and for some reason I just couldn't shake the idea off. Maybe it's because of Jace's reaction to being asked if he wanted to have kids. Poor poor Jace.:/ Maybe we'll find out in Half-Blood.

message 186: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 541 comments Aye, and there's also the fact that most mixed-race ANIMALS are sterile to begin with. (Like mules)

I don't like this speculation though. (Scampers off to find happier thoughts)

message 187: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Oh dear. This is sad...can we maybe just ignore scientific stuff? Maybe? *looks hopeful*

Jaye Knight (jayelknight) | 389 comments Mod
I feel I should intervene for everyone's sake. To put your minds at ease, Jace can have children. Whether he will or wants to, well, you'll just have to wait for an answer to that.

message 189: by Micailah (new)

Micailah | 144 comments Oh yay!!!!! I'm glad I was wrong.:) Jace is going to have children, I just know it. <3

message 190: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 541 comments Back to happy speculations about future kids then.

On the note of protective dad - can we also take a moment to appreciate the protective UNCLES that said suitors will have to deal with. I know Kaden and Marcus at least would.

message 191: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Pshaw, of course he'll have kids. We would never stand for it otherwise.

Protective uncles...so true. Poor suitors.

I wouldn't know about protective uncles. I don't even know my uncles. :P Does anyone have experience with protective uncles (with older sisters or something)?

message 192: by Micailah (new)

Micailah | 144 comments I have uncles but none of them are overly protective.... My one uncle has an...odd sense of humor. He would probably get a kick out of a boy liking me and tease me about it, but that's probably it. Lol. I'm just picturing Kaden with a daughter and having to deal with HER suitors. XD

message 193: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Oh, that would be...interesting. Haha...my grandfather would do that.

message 194: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments I am sooo writing a Kaden-and-daughters Ilyon fanfic.

message 195: by Micailah (new)

Micailah | 144 comments Yes yes yes Amanda! Do it!!! :D

message 196: by Claire (new)

Claire Banschbach lol! That got depressing for a minute...

I imagine Uncle Kaden would take the role of talking down over-protective Daddy Jace, while being protective of his niece, and generally having fun mercilessly teasing said suitor. All at the same time.

message 197: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments Oh my goodness, that sounds just like Kaden. I love it. :)

message 198: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments Me too, Claire. You should be the one writing the fanfic!

message 199: by Claire (new)

Claire Banschbach lol! I don't know if I'm brave enough to write a fanfic! But I'd love to read other people's stories. :P

THERE IS A RIFT BETWEEN JAYRIN!
