I was thinking of all the books that get suggested and only so many get chosen (via polling) for our monthly reads. The others most likely get read by those who wish to read them.
I thought it would be nice for a place where members can ask other members for a buddy read.

What is a buddy read you ask?

Lets use me as an example - Say I am fixing to read Sherrilyn Kenyon's Acheron and it wasn't chosen for a monthly read (as usually series books that are WAY far into the series don't get chosen).
Well I can post here asking if anyone wishes to read it with me.

What I would do is this:

1. Create a NEW thread in this folder, the threads name MUST be the title of the book you are wishing to buddy read along with the author.

2. Within the thread you will link the book (via cover or link, or both) as well as the author.

3. State the time frame you wish to START the buddy read. So members can have an idea if they will be able to meet the starting time with you.

4. You will also list participants in which have accepted your buddy read.

Example:

Thread Title - Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Thread Body:

Book:
Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Start Date Aproxx: 10-15-09
Participants: Tricia

Anyone interested can reply to the post, and then the creator of the post can edit the participants as needed.
There is NO limit to how many people can sign up for a buddy read.
There is also no restriction on what you can buddy read. If you wish to combine your challenge books with a buddy read that is ok!

The post ALSO represents their conversation for the book being read. Much like our threads for our monthly reads this works the same way.

Please respect buddy reads participants and their threads. If you wish to buddy read with someone make a post or sign up for someones buddy read in their specified posting.

And as with our monthly reads know that spoilers are welcome for all buddy reads, unless otherwise specified by the maker of the thread.

I love this idea. I do these in another group and it's really interesting to see others take on the same book.

Yeah I know there are disappointed people when their suggested books don't get picked for a read, so to compromise I figure this would be a good addition to the group.

Even if its just two people buddy reading its better then reading it alone :D
