Time to nominate for our July read! Edit; time to vote for our July Read!

I love the mysteries (well, except Why Shoot a Butler), and have reread the first two inspector Hannasyde mysteries in the last couple years, so I’ll nominate the third book, They Found Him Dead
.
I don't know that it has been quite long enough for They Found Him Dead, we read it Feb of last year. I would like to throw a nom for The Unknown Ajax - we have read it a few times already, but the last read was July 2019, so it will almost have been 3 years.
What do you all think?

Yes, sorry Critterbee is right. Just too soon, sorry.
I'll add the Unknown Ajax to the list.
Room for one more!

Sorry, thought my last read was with the Detectives group, not this group.
Susan in NC wrote: "Sorry, thought my last read was with the Detectives group, not this group"No problem - there are two links in the first post, one for reads in 2021, one for books we have already read this year. :)
Well, there is a clear winner but if you would still like to vote, click on the link in message #13, :)

If our members are happy for it I could try sending out a block message for the August vote, but that has 2 disadvantages.
1 Some people hate block messages & leave the group.
2 People vote who aren't regular participants in the group & then don't read the book.
Anyway, the winner (by a wide margin) is Sylvester!
Hard to know what to do. It was just disappointing to miss out on it. Anyway I'm long overdue a read of Sylvester so happy with that.
People leave the group over the occasional message sent out to the group?? Now I’ve heard everything. I actually appreciate it when I get a notice of a nomination period or a poll, because for the past couple of years Goodreads has been dumping me out of notifications so I’ve missed a lot of polls (they seem to be getting better about this). One thing you might possibly do (though it wouldn’t help with problem #2, which seems to be a widespread Goodreads issue) would be to create a new thread listing the nominees and announcing the poll. New threads seem to go out more widely than ongoing threads in Goodreads-land. But then you’d have 2 threads for each nomination period, which seems a bit silly.
Oh, the challenges of moderating!

I'm fine with Sylvester as it is ages since I read it. Cannot imagine what kind of people leave the group because they got a notification. I am continually receiving notifications from another group I'm in and 80% are not applicable to me. I just ignore them but I wouldn't dream of leaving the group!!
Oh, sorry if I wasn't clear!I'm a member of the Goodreads Moderator Group. It isn't an official GR group, but they support it.
Other moderators in the past have had members complain or leave if they feel they are getting too many messages.

I'll close nominations when we get 5 nominations or in 4 days - whichever comes first!
Please, no books that we read last year

or have already read this year

As it is just too soon!
I'll kick off the nominations with Friday's Child!
I'll be interested in seeing what else is chosen! :)
