Debate: Should Richelle Mead create another spin off series relating to Vampire Academy?

Khione I wanted to do a debate about whether Richelle Mead should leave the VA world or not?
Some starting points of both sides.

For:
There is always new ideas or open plots that could reopen and start a whole new series. For example Rose and Dimitri has a baby or maybe Sydney and Adrian has little Ivashokos? (Sorry if I spelled that wrong.)

Against:
She would only be dragging the story out if she continued to open yet another spin off series.

So please debate about this and tell me what you guys think.

Taryn I think if she were to ever do another spin off, she should hold off for a few years because if The Ruby Circle is anything to go by, I think she's burned out on the VA world. There are so many continuity errors and plot threads left unresolved in favor of other things, like the love story, that I wondered if she was even trying to write a satisfactory ending or just trying to churn out the last book so she didn't have to deal with the series anymore.

That being said, if she did ever pick it up again, I'd like to see a prequel of some sorts, or maybe the dhampir revolution many people have been waiting for.

Khione Thanks for your opinion Taryn.

Diana Braxton What I would like to see is maybe a little prequel about Lissa and Rose living on their own for two years or something to that effect. Maybe she could write about some other characters. I really feel like this is a world Richelle Mead could do a lot with. However, I agree with Taryn that it also feels a little burnt out, and I wouldn't want Richelle to force herself into writing more, because then it would just be total sh*t and no body would like that.
Rose and Dimitri can't ever have kids because they're both dhampirs, but it would be cool to see Sydney and Adrian's kid or seeing how Rose and Dimitri feel about being unable to have children.

Nikita After what was discovered in The Ruby Circle, I think so.

You need too.

I was really disappointed in her last few books though, and I don't want to purchase it because I don't want to not like it, but on the other hand it's Richelle and she's just epic and ughhhhhh

Aww how come?

Catrina I do love the Vampire Academy world, but I think doing another spin-off using the same characters could be risky - it could either be just as good as the first 2 series, even better or... well, not.

I would really love to see a spin off like The Infernal Devices though, but not necessarily a prequel, just different characters in the same world (not that I have anything against the current characters!) But that's just my opinion.

S.L.J. I wouldn't mind seeing a very very prequel. Maybe set a few hundred years ago when there were moroi warriors and humans were treated as equals and they were all in the middle of a full scale war with the strigoi.

It would be interesting to see what made them break away from humans and go into hiding and stuff.

Otherwise, I think RM would have to come at it from a completely different angle. Even if she were to include all the previous characters, I think it would have to be something totally fresh. Maybe have a Strigoi POV or something happens that exposes the Moroi world to humans would be different.

That would also have them all on the ropes because the Moroi wouldn't survive a fight with the human military. But I'm not sure RM would be able to do that to her characters.

Nice idea!

Bethany Frost I just started reading the Bloodlines series. I think it would be nice to read something from a Moroi's perspective. Maybe not Jill or Lissa, but Mia would be kind of cool. Maybe even a Moroi we haven't met yet.

PinkPepper Idk. But if she does then I will read it

Liv I don't really like Lissa, otherwise I would have said a spinoff about her and how she is going to change Moroi Life would be an idea. I mean there is still so much for her to do. The rules need to be changed and the Alchemists need to be stopped.

I really would love to read about somebody new but he/she should have to be somehow connected to Sydney, Adrian, Rose, Dimitri,.. or whoever else. So that there is kinda spin off but with some exciting new characters =P
Or Duncan!! I really liked him in "Silver Shadows". (I haven't had the chance to read the Ruby Circle yet, so hopefully he doesn't die or anything.)

I would probably read it, especially if it's about Lissa and Christian or Jill and Eddy.

S.L.J. A spirit user attempts to restore a strigoi but something goes wrong and they accidently create a strigoi that can walk in the daylight and is immune to silver. Duncan, now a teenager, may be the only one strong enough to stop the new hybrid.

Just a plot line idea... :P

Hannah I do love the VA world a lot and would be interested in reading more books from that world. However I do see where people are coming from when they say that Richelle has dragged this on for too long. I have yet to hear of a spin off to a spin off.

If Richelle does continue this series I think she should do it from the perspective of the future and introduce all new characters with maybe a few we are familiar with but only as secondary/minor characters. For example: a story about the VA's kids might be interesting if Richelle is able to pull off new twists and making sure that their kids aren't mini versions of their parents.

Now that I am thinking about it new characters all together would probably be better to keep a great story from turning bad. You know when you watch a really good movie and think "man this movie is great!" however then the sequal comes out and people think "no this is awful! The first one is better!" I think this could happen if Richelle were to write about the VA's kids. It would be a repeat of the first series.

I guess if she were to continue it she should do it about the witch covens, strigoi, or the keepers.

Diana I would like to read a series set in the same world as the VA books, but not set in high school.
