Yes, in a process of elimination he did seem quite a likely suspect. The perpetrator was someone known to Tim and Chelsea and developed an unhealthy compulsion for her. And the fact that Elliot's wife had died in a car crash (maybe not an accident?) also seemed suspicious.

Yes, I thought that he might have had some kind of mental breakdown as a result of the death of his wife.
