Since we get Chelsea and the abductor’s point of view, we also know her husband didn’t have anything to do with her disappearance. How important was that to know given the picture we are later given about him?

That's interesting. I'll have to go back and check but I never ever thought it was the husband at all from the first chapter. He seemed too "normal" . But I'm only half way through the book so that may change.
