Help make my story free on Amazon (support request)

Clever idea. I wonder if Amazon will honor their policy this way to make Kindle titles free. Anyway, I just submitted the lower price request for you. I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you.I opted into the Kindle Select program to allow 5-day free periods once every three months, but this would be a better way to get my first novel distributed more widely.
Best wishes!
Darnell's idea has worked for me numerous times. In fact, he himself can report the lower price. The only downside is that Amazon does it on their own timing, which can take days or weeks.
I also just submitted it. Good luck! I assume you're avoiding the KDP select on purpose, but it's an easier way to get your book free. You're just restricted to Amazon for publishing.___________________

On KDP select, you give Amazon exclusive rights on digital distribution, which I read to mean that I couldn't even send a friend a PDF of my book! Also, you only get 5 free promotion days per 90-day enrollment. Unless there is a compelling reason that I'm overlooking, I may just back out of KDP select and go with this approach instead.

I have been fairly happy with Amazon, but I feel too restricted. I am definitely publishing two of my books on Smashwords in April when the current contract with Amazon runs out on them. I would like to make them available in more places than Amazon.
I've used KDP select before and it was nice. I did get a surge in sales during the promotion but it fell off drastically afterwards. And overall I didn't like the exclusivity clause.I try to publish everything on Kobo, itunes, b&n and google play just because people have different preferences when it comes to ereaders and for more potential exposure.
This method has worked out in the past, but just like Charlie said it takes a while. I report it myself at least once a day but I get the feeling that they will take it more seriously if the requests are coming from different people.
I appreciate all the help!
So now as of March 5th the story is free on Amazon. I'd like to thank you all for your help and I hope I helped you out too to show this method works if anyone wanted to try this for their books. You can get an idea of how long it takes for this all to work and plan your release accordingly (something I underestimated a little bit lol).
Thanks again!
