I opted into the Kindle Select program to allow 5-day free periods once every three months, but this would be a better way to get my first novel distributed more widely.
Best wishes!

This is what really appeals to me about the idea. On KDP select, you give Amazon exclusive rights on digital distribution, which I read to mean that I couldn't even send a friend a PDF of my book! Also, you only get 5 free promotion days per 90-day enrollment. Unless there is a compelling reason that I'm overlooking, I may just back out of KDP select and go with this approach instead.

I'm thinking the same, Michael. I have been fairly happy with Amazon, but I feel too restricted. I am definitely publishing two of my books on Smashwords in April when the current contract with Amazon runs out on them. I would like to make them available in more places than Amazon.

I try to publish everything on Kobo, itunes, b&n and google play just because people have different preferences when it comes to ereaders and for more potential exposure.
This method has worked out in the past, but just like Charlie said it takes a while. I report it myself at least once a day but I get the feeling that they will take it more seriously if the requests are coming from different people.
I appreciate all the help!

You can get an idea of how long it takes for this all to work and plan your release accordingly (something I underestimated a little bit lol).
Thanks again!
