30.7 - Robin (Saturndoo)'s Task: Doublejs Doubled

For many years I used the screen name/email of Doublejs because of my 2 sons, Jason and Joshua. Now that doubled when my 2 grandsons, Joshua, Jr and Jace were born. This task is inspired by them.

For this task ONE book with MPG of graphic novels may be used.

Read two books, using 2 different options.
REQUIRED: Identify the options you used.

Option 1: Joshua, Sr named his first son Joshua, Jr. He wanted to name his second son after his brother Jason and came up with Jace.
Read a book by a single, male author whose first name begins with the letter "J." The author listed on the main book page must have a name beginning with J, not merely the initial J.

Option 2: Numerous times I've been told my sons were named wrong. Jason was born on Pearl Harbor Day and Joshua was born on Friday the 13th.
Read a book with a MPG genre of World War II or Horror. Genres may be stand alone or embedded.

Option 3: Jr and Jace were born in the decade of the 2010's.
Read a book from the first 25 pages of Best Books of the Decade:2010s
REQUIRED: State the page on which your book is found.

Option 4: All 4 of them were born in the American South.
Read a book from Best Southern Literature
REQUIRED: State the page on which your book is found.

Option 5: Jason and Josh's favorite color is red. This is because their favorite college football team is the Ohio State Buckeyes whose colors are scarlet and gray.

Read a book with the color word RED in the title. Subtitles excluded. The word RED must be standalone and CAN NOT be embedded in or part of a larger word like kindred or redeemed.
EX: The Red Queen, Red at the Bone, Red, White & Royal Blue

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) For option 1: Initials don't work like J.D. Salinger. Author's full first name must be shown. Ex: Joe, John, Jason, Josh,Jerry etc.

I-O!!!!
Congratulations to your son!!!

I was born up in that area and have lots of family still there. I was surprised when my kids were younger that they picked the Buckeyes as a favorite : ) We are huge OSU fans.

Florence | 679 comments for op 1 would a male author who uses the first initial J work? Or does it have to be a full name given? Thinking J.D. Salinger.

For option 1, the full name needs to be shown. Not just initials. Examples: Joe, John, Josh, Jason, etc would work. So J.D. Salinger wouldn't work. Sorry.

You should update the description to specify this, because many will assume an initial, which is the first letter of the name, works.

This has already been discussed with the mods and is in the process of being changed. When I created the task I wasn't thinking that initials would be confused with "name' because they are two separate things with different meanings.

Yikes!!! Let me check with the mods and see if a writing team would still be classified as a single author.

Sorry for the delay in responding to you but I did get an answer from the mods : ) The rule is as follows:

"A single author is an individual Goodreads record of an author. This name may represent a single writer or a pseudonym for a team of writing partners, if the name listed on Goodreads is an individual name. "

So you are good to go with your book : ) Hope you enjoy it!!!
