I don't know what expectations I had from the book but I feel some what unsatisfied with things happening in the book. The things happen very quickly in the book without much character development. I feel things are little rushed. The first scene where the whole family gathers up at midnight was comforting to read for some reason.
The way things developed quickly between Calvin and Meg did not sit right with me.
I just finished Chapter 5 and I must say I am feeling a bit disconnected from it in a general sense. I agree that it's way too fast paced for the plot!I had hoped a little more adventure and more detailed settings but they are already on the way to the adventure with the three strange women and I thought I hadn't even gotten acquainted with the characters yet!
I totally agree with you. I felt the same way. I just finished reading 6th chapter. It seemed interesting. It seems like they are in kind of dystopian world. Would you like to make a guess where their father will be? or what this town or Central Intelligence might be?
I finished the 7th chapter!They are in space? and on a different planet where thingd are WEIRD!!
They finally reached the Central Intelligence - it is some kinda government office for this planet i guess? I still can't understand if the man is human or some kind of alien species! The father is definitely somewhere on this planet though.
The book is getting interesting now ngl
I am desperate to find out what happened to Charles! Is it some kind of soul snatching - soul switching thing? idk!!
Yeah it is getting exciting.It reminded me of those cartoons we used to watch back when we were children. It's same like how characters in cartoon used to go on adeventures. I was apprehensive of each next thing that was happening in the book after they reached the new planet.
One thing which didn't sut right with me was Charles Wallace is not in school yet but still he talks about radioactive stuff that is a bit weird. His situation awarness and empathy towards others I can understand. He is bright I get it but how can he possibly know about radioactivity at such a young age. They overdid it there.
My guess about their father was that he must be resisting the Central Intelligence somehow and he must be part of rebel groups and these kids will join him to help him.
And this Central Intelligence seemed like some organization to me which controls everything which is unknown kind of like Big Brother in 1984
With Charles I feel he has taken control of him by luring him to show his own mind but when Charles tried to see the man's mind the man got control of him

The father is on a mission to destroy this Central Intelligence I am guessing because they are this evil organisation who control everything (Referencing the woman who said she'd have to give an explanation if the strays from schedule?)
Yeah, I agree, Charles is shown way too much knowledgeable about stuff he couldn't possibly have known without going to school (I mean he didn't even spend time with his father before he vanished to have learnt stuff from him so HOW??)
Mind control... yeah that's possible. That's a more plausible explanation anyhow i guess!!

When Meg found her father I felt he will somehow get Charles Wallace back.
I also expected that his father would have a bigger active role in fighting this IT but it seems it was just an accident that lead his father here. The story I had in my mind of his father disappearnce was he might have gone for some expedition and their something would have happened which brought him on this planet and made him aware of this black thing so he might have stopped to fight it
The creatures who found them, their description seems comforting but it also seems like they were described with all things good and nice except their appearance and writer couldn't describe that niceness so she just said something which couldn't be described or something which was never experienced by humans before.
Meg seems to put too much blame on Calvin and her Father. I think she felt that it was her responsibility to protect Charles Wallace and she failed to do it, she can't make her peace with this so she finds someone to blame this for like children or even people sometimes do. As her father and Calvin are there, she blames it on them.
I don't know this is going in which direction but I'm excited to know..

I finished it!!!!I felt a little disappointed honestly. So much buildup happened around their father and nothing became of it!! Plus calvin and meg’s romance is uncomfortable as hell.
I also felt like there wasn’t much action or active participation. things just sort of kept happening !!
The ending was a little anti climatic in my opinion but still a fun book for some light reading!

Yeah their father remained completely out of the equation.
And what did Charles Wallace do? They built up so much about his abilities and then nothing at all about it. I expected they will show something special for him and For Meg I thought they will show some element of surprise of how she saves the day.
Argh it was too disappointing. So much mystery for what?
And these three ladies came all the way just so that they could help the family save the Father?? What about that planet? What happened to those people and that kid in the jail? I was expecting at last they will free that planet. So the black thing is still there and this whole ruckus was just to save one man!!

I know right???? Not one person did anything substantial. Even the final Charles rescue by Meg waasn't as good as I had hoped for it to be! Things just kind of happened without making much sense and then they were back home just like that???What about the adventure we were promised? It was such a popular book I had assumed it must be something great but we ended up disappointed!
