Matthew | 6 comments Four Londons, all a world apart. The dark, dull Grey London, where magic no longer exists. There lives a thief with a dream to see more and the drive to survive anything, Delilah Bard. The bright, magical Red London, where magic runs through a river and through the blood of nearly everybody. There lives an Antari, a royal member of the dying race with the ability to travel between the worlds, Kell Maresh. The cold, harsh White London, where power is everything. And finally, Black London, where magic ruled the people before it was cut off and collapsed. This book follows the stories of Kell and Delilah, how the fate of their worlds comes to rest on their shoulders.

A Darker Shade of Magic is one of my favorite books right now. Vivid story writing paired with compelling characters and beautiful worldbuilding makes a very interesting read. The imagery is simply amazing. The characters are not only interesting, but understandable for the most part. While some characters do not get as deeply explored as Kell and Lilah until later books, Schwab does a fantastic job building these two. Personally, this is my favorite book in the trilogy, and I believe it’s well written either as a standalone or in the context of the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of fantasy, trust that it is well worth your time.

Kylie Blackwell | 7 comments I really like fantasy so this looks really interesting! This book seems like it has really intense world-building, is it hard to follow? I really enjoyed reading your review! Have you read any of Schwab's other series?

Michael Bogaards | 6 comments I think this was a amazing response to this book, I should pick it up some time. This had the same atmosphere as wonderful beasts and where to find them, I also enjoy the giddy grey scene, it gives it a prohibition era feel.

I have not, though I definitely plan to read The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. I lover her writing.

I hope you do! There isn't a lot of room for confusion where you aren't supposed to be confused, so it's really nice
