Hunters and vampires are fighting a secret war for control of the fabric of reality. Whoever acquires mastery of the reality shifting powers of the Metaframe will become the new gods of the universe.

"Imagine if you could change the rules of the game, what rules would you choose?"

Witness to a brutal murder, eighteen year old Anton Slayne is inducted by the mysterious Mr Wu into the secret society of vampire hunters, the Order of Thoth. He soon discovers that vicious local gangsters, determined Boston Police Detectives, and relentless Shadowstone operatives pale into insignificance as he is drawn into the machinations of the enigmatic vampire general, Chloe Armitage.

Heir to a legacy of extraordinary powers, Anton joins a team of hunters, but that is no guarantee of survival against the most powerful vampires in the world, especially when they're equipped with the latest available technology and super weapons.

"When mastery over your soul is at stake, survival is the least of your problems."

"Like Underworld on speed, it's got all the adrenaline and action-packing shots of entertainment you could want, wrapped up in a no-nonsense narrative." - Adam Smith, Cultured Vultures

Awesome, Nyssa. With the Key of Ahknaton, paired with this one, you have titanic ending in front of you.

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 314 comments Hi Graeme,

Is the first one available in print at all? I've got it on my Kindle App (phone) but I'm really slack with my e-book reading so would love to have a hard copy.

Ah ok, thank you. I'll persist with the e-book but if it becomes available in Australia let me know!

Congratulations! It must feel so amazing to be this close to the end of an amazing literary journey. They have been a major part of my reading life over the last several years. It will be bittersweet to see the end!

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments Hi Krystal, you can order PBs in Australia - but it is expensive.

Thanks Jeffrey. I'm touched that you have enjoyed the journey.

My experience of completing the story is ... not like the movies. It's not the case of writing 'The End,' and balloons fly into the air, fireworks go off, and champagne corks pop, it was actually quite ... strange ... almost flat. I actually got quite disconsolate for a few days (or perhaps a week or two), edgy, moody and generally out of sorts and for a couple of days quite depressed.

It felt like I'd just lost something important in my life, and it (specifically) was never coming back.

All the enjoyment of writing this series has been tied into the actual creative experience, solving all sorts of little narrative twists and turns or coming across a pithy turn of phrase, and then sharing all of it with readers who have been exceedingly kind and generous with their feedback. I've been very lucky with the people I've met along the journey.

What I feel now, is that one chapter has closed, and I'm just putting everything to bed ... and a new chapter is about to begin. I'm getting strong visuals around a new villain - and for me - that's always a great place to start.

Wow. That's quite some empty nest syndrome, for lack of a better phrase. As if the children you've raised and loved have left your home and there's no more organized chaos in life.

Glad to hear about a new villain emerging . . .

That all makes perfect sense, Graeme. But I'm confident you will channel all that energy and emotion into a new project. I can't wait to see this new villain materialize.

It has been an awesome ride and I am sad that it has come to an end too. Waiting each time for a new book to come out has been exciting and wondering what was going to happen next in the Metaframe War. I feel your sadness and know that this series has been weaved into your life for a long time.

Looking forward to this next villain that is lurking in the back of your mind and will be curious to see what you have planned for us readers next. :)

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments Thanks Jeffrey,

You may have noticed that I like multi-polar conflict, so, definently more than one villain in the next series.

And a small number of heroes to oppose them.

I was looking for a word to describe the experience ... and you nailed it, Netanella.

Empty Nest...

Thanks.

It's all about establishing the narrative framework (yea framework ... Metaframes .... everywhere Metaframes....)

It all begins with characters, what they want, what they're willing to do to get it, and how does that put them in conflict with each other.

Strong believable characters we can invest in. Trenchant enduring conflict. And depth of backstory to give meaning to what is happening and to provide multiple levels of 'stakes,' for the characters.

Deeply personal motivations end up driving global consequences.

We'll see how it goes.
