I can understand her pretending to have a relationship with Max just to show Sam that she has moved on. Alyssa sees that Sam is trying to make the best of his marriage, but it isn't working based on the argument she heard between Sam and Mary Lou. They're both very unhappy and it's just sad.As far as the odds of Sam staying in the marriage, I remember this part of story arc very clearly and am looking forward to re-reading more about Alyssa, Sam and Mary Lou.
The whole situation is just sad. Sam is trying and it just isn't enough to make Mary Lou happy. I bet she is regretting getting pregnant and trapping Sam at this point. Poor Sam. Not only is he desperately unhappy, but he is also seeing that Alyssa has moved on. If I didn't know what I already know, I would still say that the odds of Sam staying in the marriage aren't good.
Alyssa has to go with Jules to see Sam and meets Mary Lou for the first time. We also get to see Sam in all his misery. She allows Sam to believe she’s in a committed relationship with Max. Your thoughts about all of this? What are the odds that Sam can stay in this marriage?
