Cheryl Coppens | 603 comments Renee' Ballard works the night shift for the Hollywood division of the LAPD. One night while doing her reports she finds a strange man going through the file cabinets. This stranger is Harry Bosch retired LAPD who now works part time in the San Fernando Police Department (a much slower pace of work) and part time chasing down cold case files. When Ballard discovers who Bosch is and what he's working on she wants in on the investigation. Together they are trying to solve the nine year old murder of 15 year old Daisy Clayton. The action is quick with many twists, turns, and dead ends. Both Bosch and Ballard will do whatever it takes to solve crimes even "bending" the law as Ballard describes it. This wasn't my first Connelly novel , but was every bit as enjoyable as those I have already read.
