For some reason, the woman moves back to her childhood home and she finds a well on the property. And she discovers a body at the bottom of the well and I think, a red dress. And her childhood boyfriend is now police officer in town and he tries to help her solve the mystery.

I picked this book up at a book fair when I was in college at JMU (2009-2011) and I can’t find the book, don’t remember the title or author and can’t remember if I finished it. But it was a great read….well, what I did read was really good Lol

Any chance it's Crime Scene At Cardwell Ranch by B.J. Daniels? In this, the boyfriend is the one who left town, so it doesn't match what you remember.
