Chapter 1-10: (view spoiler)[This book is so eerie, the whole island of Sairose seems so cut off fr the rest of the world that I am getting chills by just imagining the scenes set on the island. The mystery of what happened 14 years ago has me interested and i wonder if Dutch played a role in everything, he seemed a bit creepy and not right to me honestly, and since August is already being blamed by everyone the chances of him being the murderer are close to nil (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11-21: (view spoiler)[Definitely feel like the elders are hiding something and Dutch is somehow involved in it as well. Their secret meeting gave me the creepiest vibes. Also I think Eloise was talking about something else, maybe August set the orchard on fire but he didn’t kill Lily? There just doesn’t seem any motive for the same. I understand Emery being angry at him though, she was left alone after all when everything happened (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 22-35: (view spoiler)[This is getting very creepy ngl, why do I feel like the seniors of this island themselves set the orchard on fire and killed Lily as part of some bizarre ritual to save the island. Literally everyone is acting suspicious in this book and Leoda seems to be at the centre of it all. The only thing that doesn’t make sense in all this is where exactly was August that night and why won’t he speak up. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 36-48: (view spoiler)[This is all soo fucked up omg, it’s like every twist is darker than the previous one. Dutch turned out to be so selfish I can’t believe he would just let August take the fall but I am also angry at August for staying quiet all this time. Plus all the people of the island - they went to such great lengths for the orchard. Not one of them felt bad for chasing a kid out of town. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[WTF was that ending, it literally gave me chills!! I must say this book kept me guessing right until the end and I just loved it. Leoda was such a twisted character, the way she had everyone wrapped around her finger was frightening. I got so happy reading about Emery and August’s life in the city but Saoirse’s name popping up again that too from a little child who had never even heard of it before, it was enough for me to get some freaking goosebumps (hide spoiler)]
