This audio introduces Cliff Janeway, a detective with the Denver Police Department but his lifelong dream is to be a book dealer. He's collected many valuable books of his own that he loves. He's very knowledgeable, which comes in handy when a book scout gets killed and it becomes his case.

Janeway has a girlfriend on the police force but they are keeping it pretty quiet. While this case is going on, Cliff is also obsessing about Jackie Newton a really bad guy. Cliff hates him and wants to hang him out to dry but he keeps getting away with everything they try to pin on him. These two things are not connected and Janeway knows that but the book balances these two issues throughout the book. Halfway through the book, Janeway leaves the police force with some pressure due to his dealings with Newton.

He can't quite drop the case of the book scout even though his former partner reports that the force has pretty much written it off due to no leads and a feeling that it was somewhat random. Janeway follows his dream to be a book dealer and it's all very interesting, and the book continues with plenty of tension and lots of questions needing answers.

George Guidall is the reader on this audio and he's known to be good at his job, this book was proof. The next book in the series is also read by Guidall and I plan to continue the series.
