Linda Eskin (lindaeskin) | 3 comments I entered two of my own quotes, one general one, and another from my next soon-to-be-published book. Those two quotes are now appearing on the profile of another "Linda Eskin"

The two quotes are here (under the other Linda Eskin): https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

but they should be here (under my own profile):
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Can I fix that? Can you fix that?

When I enter additional quotes is there a way to avoid this issue?

My own already-published book (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...) did not appear in the drop-down list when submitting my quotes. When I quote from this book is there a way to specify it? Or to add it as an selection in that list beforehand?

Thank you!

Emily | 17473 comments You can enter them directly from the book page I think, but you can put two spaces between your first and last names to have it go to your profile and show your book list. I've added it.
It looks like the necessity/laziness quote is attributed to multiple people in different variations, so I have deleted it.

Thank you for your help, and for the tips, Emily.

The remaining quote is from my next book, which I'm finishing up now (not published yet), so it shouldn't be associated with A Bowl of Love. Can I edit the quote to correct that?

I'm not getting what you mean about putting two spaces between my first and last names. I saw that in my profile (that there were two spaces) and figured it must have been a mistake, and that maybe that was why my book wasn't in the drop-down list, so I fixed it (or tried to). Am I supposed to have two spaces?

Wait... I got further clarification via Contact Us, where I asked about my books not appearing in the drop-down list:

"I apologize for the trouble with this! Please input your name with two spaces instead of one, like this:

Linda Eskin

This should allow you to quote your book.

To clarify, this misattribution occurred because we import our data from external sources like Ingram and direct publisher feeds. On Goodreads, we differentiate between authors with the same name by inserting an extra space. It may help to note that you're known in our database as Linda Eskin with two spaces between your first and last name, rather than with a single space. This is to differentiate you from other authors with the same name in the system. The spacing is entirely on the database side, so anyone viewing your author profile page will only see one space in your name. Unfortunately, our data sources don't use a system like this – in their data, all authors have one space between their first and last names. So when we import data from Ingram, we are importing all one-space names.

If there's anything else I can help you with ..."

I guess I need to go back to my profile and add that space back in!

Thanks again.
