Conor | 14 comments The numbered pages (excluding the unnumbered final page that still contains contents from the actual book) is 152, as currently indicated. However, this version (specifically with the introduction by Leo Bersani and the translator's preface by David McLintock) includes an additional 37 pages (numbered with roman numerals; the last page of the translator's preface is not numbered, but still contains content from the translator's preface.

In short, the page count should be 189 pages

Side note: for most of my other books, prefaces, introductions, etc. are typically included in the word count, even if they are not numbered using Arabic numerals. Is there a fixed policy on this? If so, and especially if the policy is to not include pages not numbered using Arabic numerals, then please let me know, even if the details for this book aren't edited.

Sandra | 31493 comments Indeed, the librarian manual states "Introductory material paged using roman numerals is not included in the total page count."

Excluding the roman numeral pages, are you saying the page count should be 153? We would include the unnumbered last page if it is content related to the book.

Conor | 14 comments Excluding Roman numerals, the page count should be 152, as it is now, so no change is needed.

A bit of a shame that they should be excluded, as important (and even classic--see Wretched of the Earth with Sartre's foreword) content may be found there; but this is not the place for that debate, and I'm sure much has been said about it elsewhere.

I'll keep that in mind in the future. Thanks for the reply and the link!
