I don't talk a lot, but I think A LOT. I guess that comes through in my writing. Hehe

I also tend to give each scene time to "breathe", to let what happens happen, so it ends up running longer than expected.

Choko (chokog) | 106 comments So, I finished the old version of book #1, and I am 9 chapters in the new edition. Definitely some differences. The style of writing is the most obvious. The older one felt a bit too theatrical and staged, while this feels more organic. But the things that are happening in the story are different as well. I am not sure if we are going to be introduced to some of the other characters that we haven't met in this version yet, or if we did in a very different manner. I wonder the long term effects those changes will have on the story. I also want to see if Andy had split some of the conversations between the Hunter and the priests, and we get more of them as we go, because that was probably my favorite part of the older version. A lot of foreshadowing there in the history, me thinks...

LOTS of long-term ripple effects in the changes--not just in Book 1, but far beyond.

It was fun reading it! That whole scene with (view spoiler)

Which brings me to an interesting observation. Your writing style is what I would consider "visual". As I read this book I can see, hear, and smell the aspects of the story. The story just grabs you and transports you into that world. I feel that time slips away as I am reading the story and reality disappears transporting me into the story. Everything I have read so far is like it is playing out on a movie screen.

I feel that this book and no doubt your other books in the series would make a great tv series on Prime or Netflix - maybe even a movie franchise. :)

message 123: by Andy (new)

Andy Peloquin | 124 comments I'm a very visual person, so I need to be grounded in the scene to really feel it. I guess that just comes through in my approach to writing it.

I'd defintely go Prime/Netflix over cable TV. Longer, more bingeable episodes for sure!

That is awesome! I felt that when I had read your prequel to your science fiction series Cerberus (Kill Order) - that book was awesome! I am planning on reading that whole series too - after I finish this series. :) I so want to get back to it so much but now I need to do one series at a time and stick with it. So this one in fantasy then I will pop over to your science fiction series next. :)

Though I did want to ask you something about your science fiction series. I noticed that Kill Order is no longer available on Amazon - has that book been combined with Assassination Protocol?

I have another question Andy and it is about this book.

What made you decide to add a dagger that thinks for itself?

I sometimes feel bad for the Hunter as he cannot shut off the voice of the dagger - I would want some kind of on/off flip switch attached to the dagger as it would drive me crazy! lol

I know you will keep quiet on this thought - lol - but I am curious about the (view spoiler) Very mysterious I can tell you that. :)

I'll give you a hint: look up schizoaffective disorder. :D
The truth is really only revealed later on down the line, but that's what originated the voice/s in the Hunter's mind.

It's the song that inspired the Hunter's character. He's very much on the wrong side of Heaven and the righteous side of Hell. :D

Kevin | 217 comments The end of part one was quite suspenseful. I read the last few chapters so fast. The scenes were very well described and easy to read and follow. There is a lot going on in this book. The pacing is on point. A nice steady stream of whatever is going on in any particular scene.
