Deanna | 3529 comments Comedy Rough Draft - Suggestions welcome..

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, after a mind-numbing drive down the Long Road to Mercy, finally arrive at the Winterborne Home for Mayhem and Mystery excited for the weekend event. Upon checkin, they quickly drop their luggage in their assigned room, A Tomb with a View, and head downstairs to join the other participants.

In the Festive in Death ballroom, they opt to skip being Bitten by the black widow and instead join the line for the Taste of Almost Heaven Cookies before taking a relaxing ride on The Swan Gondola.

Moving on to the Brotherhood in Death group session, they listen to The Witches of New York discuss the Potion Problem: how to make a great tasting potion that actually works. The subsequent session, Leverage in Death, explained How to Get Rich in a Year starting with nothing but Stolen socks.

After a quiet evening at the Echoes in Death concert running songs from the Playlist for a Broken Heart, the pair are excited for the main event, the Connections in Death mixers designed to bring together Book Lovers before a lively discussion of the Secrets in Death found in 21st century fantasy literature. On their way up to their room, the pair collect their custom commemorative Frames for their favorites photographic weekend memories.

Karolyn | 1041 comments The Countdown Timer is here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

This is when all books must be finished by. We then have 24 hours to finalize our official spreadsheet.

I'm sad to see this challenge end, it's been so much fun reading with all of you and the challenges this year have been quite creative!

message 860: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Oh... and we are in great shape for the challenge! Anything that isn't finished yet has a backup. Read anything you want for these last few days.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Just finished my last book for the Challenge. It has been great reading with all you gals.

Can't say I'm enjoying the new book pages Goodreads has fiddled with though. What are everyone's thoughts?

Here's to a top 2 finish!

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I really disliked the changes to the book pages for the beta. It was a relief when they went back to normal but it looks like they are going to change it to the beta style again soon. I think there is more meaningful changes they could make, such as the ability to rate at 1/2 stars, rather than the stylistic changes they are doing.

Deanna | 3529 comments Just about 2 days to go! Here's the countdown to the challenge end.

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 2000 comments I've finished a few books this week. I'll be able to get through 2 more before the challenge ends. We're slowly catching up to no. 1 place but have no. 2 spot secured.

message 869: by Tina ❣ (new)

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 2000 comments I'm not much of a fan of the beta version yet but like always, I adapt to it. Hopefully the kinks are worked out before they officially release it

Deanna | 3529 comments Tragedy Rough Draft

Grim, the newest Apprentice in Death investigations, was looking forward to seeking out The Guilty with no intention to ever Return to Destiny, North Dakota after watching his betrothed Victoria die a slow, agonizing death during the Pandemic. She became infected with the Parasite while taking part in the widely televised show, The Marriage Game, while he was busy training. She had deserved her death he believed, and he was now free to focus on his future.

His first case was clearly an Orchestrated Death. Summoning a Wild Demon to eat the heart of your faithless girlfriend should qualify as Human Insanity, but the culprit was calm and rational as he explained he simply couldn't take Her Last Betrayal. Clearly the Dissonance of her screams did not pierce the Tangled Threads of his furious mind.

After dropping off the husband at the local jail, Grim went hiking in the nearby forest. Reaching in his pocket for a granola bar, he instead pulled out The Talisman, once believed to be Lost in Time, that he had taken from around his fiancee's neck. Before he could throw the offending object into the gorge below, it lit up in a White Hot blaze of fire. The explosive Expansion of the flames started a Wildfire in the surrounding forest that raged for days. Survival in a wildfire of such intensity was believed to be impossible still Grim's family all took part in the month long search for the missing investigator. No trace of his body was ever found.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Ooh very tragic indeed! Well done.

Sara Hollingsworth | 134 comments Well, I overestimated my ability to finish all my books. 2 out of three isn't terrible, but definitely didn't make it through that Stephen King. Dx
