ah thanks! That is indeed harder. Didn't notice it worked for that one as well. What is the page and the song quoted?

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Pg 187

Don’t talk to me about your God
I don’t need your broken bread
Not for my soul
Not for my heart
Not for my countless sins
You want to give me something?
Something to save my wicked soul?
Give me the same as you’ve got
Loving who I want, and leaving me alone.

Eni | 2349 comments @Kit/Briana could you tell me what is the page and the sentence where food appears in Crossed?

message 1154: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Oh shoot. I didn't even see that part on the mini with different criteria. I thought we just had to do something with titles. I'll take a look at that. Hopefully I can fill in some.

No worries! I tried to fill in as much as I could with the information you guys left, however if anyone finds any better fit we can always change it :)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I was just coming on to say that I see someone found homes for my books.

message 1157: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I finished Five Presidents this morning. I noted this on the spreadsheet: works for drink, food and instrument in text.

message 1158: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1896 comments I just finished [book:Kitchens of the Great Midwest|23398625. I read the large print version (much nicer on the eyes! Must be getting old...) so the page numbers are off for the evidence. I used the book's regular number of pages, and then just used the titles of the chapters for the places where they mention food and music.

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments I will begin finishing books again soon. My bf returns home in Monday and then I will have a good 2 weeks to myself where I plan to get quite a bit of reading done. My mum leaves her job at the beginning of next month to prepare for moving so I will be busy with moving stuff towards the end of this challenge, but I dont think the actual move will happen before.
I did promise another 1,000ish page book and I still haven't had a chance to have a good look at this new mini, but I'll look on Monday and see what I can come up with.
Have a good weekend everyone!

message 1160: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I was alone at work today and I will home alone most of the weekend so I plan to have an read-a-thon. Or more precisely a listen-a-thon while I get some yard and housework done.

I just noticed that Joyce read The Mummy Case and that's a book I checked out for the monsters and didn't end up reading for that. So there's a "read by a teammate book".

Briana (bookishmi) | 181 comments Eni wrote: "@Kit/Briana could you tell me what is the page and the sentence where food appears in Crossed?"

Pages 26, "It takes some time to walk into town and the smell of farming hangs thick in the air—burning wood and cool air and apples turning to cider."

Pages 130, "We find him eating an apple in the second cave." If you need the character actually eating something.

Melissa | 1896 comments Hello Team Jason!
We need 4 books for the Trojan Warships thingamabobbie.
Anyone up for reading a paranormal, urban fantasy or cozy mystery this week? There's one feminist slot open too!

message 1163: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments I can do paranormal and or Fantasy

message 1164: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1896 comments Awesome. You can let me know what title you decide on, or just pop over to the Warships thread and let them know. I’m reading a cozy mystery this time.

message 1165: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Do I have to pick a title now? I have another challenge that puts out tasks tomorrow that I’d like to fit the same book for.

message 1166: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1896 comments No worries. Tomorrow is just fine. What’s the other challenge? I’ll be looking for another one come late August.

message 1167: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I have a paranormal - it might work for UF - I'll have to check. I didn't want to hog spots....

message 1168: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1896 comments Hog away!!

message 1169: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments The other Challenge is Ocean Layers Team at Turn of Page Group. It ends soon but it was interesting.

message 1170: by Briana (new)

Briana (bookishmi) | 181 comments I have a cosy and/or a paranormal/UF I could read. Whichever is needed more I can do.

message 1171: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1896 comments I would say maybe the paranormal/UF?

message 1172: by Briana (new)

Briana (bookishmi) | 181 comments Melissa wrote: "I would say maybe the paranormal/UF?"

Okay I'll be reading Fire Touched it works for both.

message 1173: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments I could probably find something to fit any of those if we still need one by monday. I won't have time to sort anything out before then.

message 1174: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments I had a look at the mini as my bf is still sleeping so I had some time. I went through our books that everyone has read and I think I can cover 4 that would work for either another team member has read during this challenge or has been on my TBR list for longer than a year. If anyone knows if books they have read are available on Audible Plus, I can maybe help us out with a few of those.

I can definitely do a few for on my TBR list for more than a year as I was mostly planning on reading books from my TBR list anyway.

message 1175: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1325 comments I just volunteered to read for our team on the planning page. I can read whatever needs reading, though i do have a paranormal book lined up.

message 1176: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments I just entered my book A Long Way from Home in the muse mini for R3. For some reason the SS wouldn't allow me to enter the link, so it's just the title. Can someone look at that for me?
Thanks!

message 1177: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Melissa wrote: "Nancy, how is the new place in Florida?"

Just finished reading through all the posts on this thread. I have back issues from time to time and after our long 13 hour car trip home, it was acting up. I did get some reading done in the car and yesterday resting my back, so that's the good news! My books are just both long ones for me, so it's going to take awhile. Should get some more time in today.
Melissa the FL home is going well. We had a great time with our oldest daughter and her family! She's very detail oriented and I came home one day to find her cleaning our place in all the little cracks and crevices so it's now really immaculate. The funny thing is she was a slob growing up, so for anyone who has a messy daughter have patience it might change! LOL.
We now have it rented out for all the months until next summer except for March (which we're taking) and October and April, so we're very pleased and I'm relieved we won't be eating just beans for the next year!

message 1178: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I finished The Mummy Case which is MPG cozy if one is still needed.

message 1179: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments I finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone which I started when I was in Norway, but left the book there so I finished it through my library app as an audiobook. I listed the mini tasks it works for (food and instrument) but I don't have access to the direct quotes or page numbers. Is that okay? If not I could try and find an ebook copy I could skim through for quotes.

message 1180: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments I was looking through my TBR and only just noticed after 10 years, I have the wrong version of Uncle Tom's Cabin on there. I was intending to use it for either a book a team member has read (from the Spreadsheet Nanci is reading it and will probably be done before me) or for on the TBR list longer than a year. Would we still be able to use it for the TBR one even if it doesn't show on GRs? I understand if not, I'm more frustrated about the wrong one being on there this whole time. I'll keep the 'imposter' one on there for now as my evidence that I had a book with that title on my TBR.

I was just thinking that if I somehow finished it first or Nanci decided not to finish it, I could use it for one of the TBR tasks.

message 1181: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Keely,
I'm not sure how to answer your question. I wonder if you could just edit the book on your shelf to the correct version and it would still put the date in the same as you originally had.

I am reading it, although I"m only 16% done. It's taking me awhile bc of the dialect. Still hoping to finish it by the end of this week. Hopefully we can use it as a book a teammate has read. I think that will be harder than something on your TBR.

message 1182: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1896 comments I just finished The Bad Muslim Discount by Syed M. Masood which was really good. I'm not sure what tasks it would fall under though.

Uncle Tom's Cabin This is the version I added, but it's by a completely different author. Looking at the reviews, many people may have made the same mistake.
I have a few other books to read/finish first so I'll focus on them for now. I will finish Moby Dick today and then read more of The Moonstone as I see we would like to use that for a task.

There are more than 172 pages of editions of the Uncle Tom's Cabin book! I am reading an ebook version from my library. I looked through the first 6 pages and don't see it. I thought we were supposed to use the default edition so that's what I was using. It is:
Uncle Tom's Cabin

The ebook edition that I am reading is actually more pages. I hope it's ok to use the default edition. If we're using it for the task of 'two team members read the same book", then I don't think the edition will matter.

message 1186: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments The one I will read will be the same as yours (as in by the correct author and not the one I had on my TBR all these years). I'll be listening to it as an audiobook so I'll be using the default version too, but I believe you are correct and the edition doesn't matter. That would be insane if we had to have the same version, impossible even.
I'm working on a couple of longer books first so you will probably finish it before me as I'm not likely to even start it until next week.

message 1187: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Sounds good, Keely! It might be faster listening to the audio version with all the difficult diction to read. I'm pretty sure the only and last time I read this was most likely in high school. I probably read a different version.
I'm only on page 341 of 1,805 in the ebook and I bet I've put at least three hours into reading it. I've never read a book so slowly before! It's an important account of how cruel and unjust people can be to their own fellow humans, but sometimes I just have to take a break from all the meanness.

message 1188: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments I just finished The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy: The Shocking Inside Story. It works for True Crime, Nonfiction, Mystery, Audiobook, Biography, Autobiography, History, Horror and Adult. It's 548 pages. I don't have it down for Trojan Warships or the mini yet, but hoping it will fit somewhere soon.

Didn't I see a graphic example somewhere for the Polyhymnia mini? I can't find it to see if my book might fit there.

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I finished A Deal with the Elf King and put it in the song/poem spot for the mini. I don't know how to put it in verse in the SS, but here it is:

Meet me in the veil of secrets
Before the day expires.
There, my love, I'll steal your face,
Before anyone inquires.

Kinda creepy, but ya know, elves.

Melissa | 1896 comments I listened to Plum Spooky on the way to visit my sister - It has a lot of food references in it, but it could also be a part of the funny titles I think.
I'd have to get the book out of the library to find the page numbers, but there are several grilled cheese sandwiches. And a peanut butter and olive sandwich (yuck?).

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1818 comments I've currently got too many books on the go right now. I got excited by all the free time I currently have to finally get through some books. One will definitely get finished today, and then the next should follow in a day or two.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I'm hoping to finish the Book of Life today and The Arrow before I leave. I will probably add a few more books to the spreadsheet although I'm not sure how much reading I'll do. I am going alone and with have audio book time in the car. Probably also ebook time while manning my trade show booth. This tradeshow is really just an excuse for most of them to play golf on the company's dime. I don't golf. But I'm very happy for a free trip to New Mexico even if it means going alone and sitting through some boring meetings about manufacturing and domestic fence spec requirements. (we make parts for prison and security fencing). Also I can do my own thing on the golf days.

message 1200: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Mary, I started golfing after retirement, so would love to have a paid trip like that! As a former school counselor and teacher, we never got any trips of course. Haha! My husband was always astounded how I had to beg and justify a day off for a conference and then pay for everything myself. Differences between education and corporate America are many, but I absolutely loved my work, so no complaints from me!

Having just read the Ted Bundy book where he escapes from jails 3 times, I find the idea of your work pretty interesting!
