Wow. Team was quiet last night. Usually when I check in the morning there's been a bunch of posts. I need to find some books to read so I'll check out the new Mythic's challenge and the open monster spots.
Listening to the Princess Trap today. If we get an other monster with "royalty" it can be used for that.
I see we still need a couple of 800 page books. Not my favorite but I'll see what I come across that I can listen to at work. We've hit a slow spot again and it's vacation season. So I'm alone in the office again.
More powers to the ones who can read or listen to those looong books! I might read one of those every 5 years and it usually takes me months to finish. :)
The super long ones aren't my favorites but there's some I want to read. I try to save them for tower teams. My sweet spot for books is 300-500 pages. I'd rather they split a super long book into 2 parts. Anyway, I found these 2 and I'm going to add them to the main spreadsheet. I'll hold off on adding to the monsters until I know I'm going to get one done.
Putting Princess Test aside. It's on Scribd so no deadline to return.
After reading Royal Assassin I am planning to read Assassin's Quest which is over 800 pages. So I can cover one of those prompts if still available. I plan to finish both books by the end of the weekend. I am really enjoying the Farseerers Trilogy. I have already decided that I want to read The Liveship Traders Trilogy, but not until September as I have a few books to read on my shelf already.

I haven't read any of Ursula Le Guin yet. A book of short stories seems a good place to start.
I see some Stephen King Dark Tower books on the list for books over 800 pages. But I had a hard time with The Gunslinger. Hubby said the movie was awful even with Idris Elba as the lead.
Maybe if I read some cheat sheets about the Gunslinger, I can pick up with book 2.
I'll have my 800 pager done by this weekend. I added it to the SS, but i'm on my phone, so I'll have to do the link later. I don't mind a long book, but I don't get them done as quickly as sometimes feels like is needed in these situations. I definitely want to finish this one before that crazy battleship challenge starts!
the battleship game doesn't look too challenging as far as book requirements. If I'm reading it right, it's just book genres and no really weird genres either. No "read a book with a sheep, a person, a violin and more than 10k 4 star reviews" tasks.
I could read another 800+ page book, but as I haven't started one yet I would rather wait until after the 1st so that it can potentially be used in this new challenge. However I just remembered one of the rules of the monster mini, "9.) Books used for this mini challenge cannot be used for other mini challenges." Does this include the warship one? I'm guessing it would count as a mini challenge as the individual group ones don't overlap, but I would like to make sure.
I'm probably going to wait until after the 1st until I start anything new anyway. I'm still working on a BOM and a couple of other books.

I'm going to look at some books I want to read and what genres they fit for so I can help if needed. I'm already a few hours into Sleep in a Sea of Stars which works for Space Opera. But I love Space Operas so that's not a hard one for me to help with if needed. Might be time to spend another audible credit on a Robin Owens book.

@Heather I'm up to Assassin's Quest as well and I was considering giving it a read in August as it finishes a "series" for me.I've also got a lot of paranormal/urban fantasy at my disposal if thoses genres come up and I can usually knock those out in a day or two for Battleship.
I checked out Sleep in Sea of Stars in 2 formats to help me finish it faster. But I won’t be upset if other long books get used for the monsters. I’m assuming the deadline is some time tomorrow.

The Monsters deadline is the 15th, so plenty of time.

I've started an 890 page book but I read fast so I should be done by Saturday...
I will probably finish Sea of Stars tomorrow morning. There's been too many people in and out of my office all day for me to listen. Sometimes when we're slow but people can't leave early (or are out of vacation time) they like to come hang out with me in my air conditioned office here and there through out the day. There's been a parade in and out all day.
I plan to help with the Battleship books but probably not too much with the strategizing.

Colchian Dragon has been seen on your lands, searching for a new and improved golden fleece. Maybe a platinum one? He's not the strongest monster around but still takes some effort to put down. Likes music and is distracted from finishing his tasks.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 200 and 299 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book from an unfinished series.
3.) Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover.
4.) Read a book with MPG Epic Fantasy.
5.) Read a book with a yellow cover (at least 50%).
Maddy - It looks like your Murder in G Major could work for 1 and 3?
Wildfire (the BOM) works for both 1 and 2 which I finished the other week, if that helps. But it would work for 3 tasks if we get the Mares of Diomedes so I don't know if we want to save it just in case.
Both of the July BOM look good to me and I was able to check both out

I just finished Things We Lost to the Water. It works for T85, which Stacey has covered. I don't see any other monsters we still need for which it will work. The only other task looks like "the MC gets lost" and she doesn't get lost, although she feels very lost in New Orleans after coming there from Vietnam. I've got it on the SS.

Has anyone else read The Master and Margarita BOM? I'm not really enjoying it and if I wasn't reading it for the point, I think I would have given up. On the upside, I'm close to reaching the end of day 3's chapters and then I can just power through. I will finish it this weekend. The last time I checked, my library app or any other apps I use did not have the July BOMs available. I'll check again, but I do have an Audible credit so I can use it for one of them.
All my talk of not reading long books and now I have to read The Art of Fielding, which is 512 pages for another challenge. So I will be working on that while I'm also reading some others. Hopefully, we'll still need something in that page range, when I finish it.
Okay! We've started the Trojan Warships (to be completed during the same time as monsters). That just started 10 minutes ago. Check your books that you start now, or this week. I can definitely cover a classic. I've had one waiting to start that isn't too long. I also have a book that would cover History, Military or War.
Those are the two off the top of my head that I would like to read soon, but I could probably find something for any genre if needed.
Oh yeah. I know this doesn't happen for a bit yet, but I am going home to the UK on the 13th July. My boyfriend is coming with me and will stay for about 10 days before he returns to Norway. I doubt I will get much reading done in that time as we will probably be busy so I'm trying to get as much read as I can before then.
I finished my big book. Charybidis is finished! I did manage to get both of the BOMs from the library so I'm going to give them a shot. Neither of them are really my cuppa though, so it might be rough going. ;)

It doesn't really matter where we use my books, I was just offering it up since it had a bunch of tags. We can wait until the rest of the spots fill in and see which tags might still be missing and decide then. It might fit better in one of the new monsters. ;)
I just finished Close Protection which fits a ton of tasks but is also over 800 pgs.If we use StacyC's Fake Wife (read Jun 15) or MaryC The Secret Poisoner (read June 28) for Charybdis 2 and Close Protection for task 1 (T36 &37) instead of Kit's Cursed Fates we could finish it off.
And it looks like we are done Charybdis T81-85
I just finished Cursed Fates and updated the spreadsheet so Charybdis 1 is down too. Sorry it took me so long. Next I'm working on The Rage of Dragons and This Savage Song to finish out the Cerberus, hopefully I'll have them done by tomorrow since I'm working on laundry and have audios for both.
