Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story?

Phrynne | 14 comments I enjoyed it as much on the second read as I did on the first. I always think of these books as Georgette Heyer only with sex. She of course always closed the bedroom door at a discreet moment.
The story was pretty standard historical romance although the scene with the train rescue was a little unusual and quite exciting!
I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I really like it too and look forward to the rest of the series.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I'm so glad that we're reading a historical romance series, especially by Lisa Kleypas. I love her writing. I found myself smiling several times at the conversations between Devon & Kathleen, and Devon & West.

I thought this book introduced us to some interesting characters and set us up for several future stories. I'm really looking forward to Helen & Rhys.

I love Kleypas’ writing style, too. She brought me back to historical romance after a 20-year hiatus, beginning with The Hathaways series. I couldn’t be more pleased with the start of this one.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I loved this book! I definitely can't wait to read the next one.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I loved this book too. As I mentioned before, I don't know why I've never read anything by this author before. I've seen her name. One of the downside of online shopping is not going through the rows and rows of books. Prolific and long-lasting authors stand out by the number of books on the shelf.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

I first joined the Shelfari book community and the group discussions were wonderful. It spawned the format for these discussions as Goodreads doesn’t support nested conversations. It was much easier on Shelfari to share information about great books and authors. That’s how I discovered Kleypas. I opened a topic to ask for recommendations for historical romance authors, series and books. Everyone recommended Kleypas’ Wallflowers and The Hathaways series.

I hadn’t read the genre, let alone romance, in over 20 years because of that early bodice ripper stuff but everyone now seemed to be enjoying it. I started with those two and got hooked. Kleypas is one of the very best.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I never used Shelfari and I didn't come to Goodreads until late in the game. I found Sylvia Day's website and a lot of the people posting talked about Goodreads which sent me here.

There used to be a lot more robust group participation on this site until Amazon pulled resources. The old administrators recognized this was a site for readers, not a resource for Amazon to sell books. That difference in perspective shapes how “community” is defined and I feel the loss. They bought and eventually killed off Shelfari, a much smaller but more intimate and involved community. They opened up so many new genres, authors and books to me.
