SOLVED. Maybe 2000s. Not too scary thriller. Hit and run? Man communicates with ghosts by tape recordings. Title might have 'ghost' in it.

*** UPDATE*** I have found the book! It is Burial by Neil Cross. My sister remembered the agency that looked after the author as she had worked there years ago and we found it that way!

I read this book around 2009, think it was published around 2000 - 2010.
It was a sort of not too creepy black mirror type book. As far as I am aware set in the UK and written by a man.

The main character was a man, prob in his thirties, who worked at a greetings card company, he either left or got fired but he wasn't happy there.

Something happened after that, I want to say he was driving back from a wedding and hits something, maybe a young woman? And i think he drove off.

I think he then got scouted out by a guy who claims he can communicate with ghosts on a tape recorder to give messages from the girl who was killed in hit and run? This guy may have been a fraud.

I've been trying to find this book for years but whenever I google I find a load of books on ghost hunting tactics..
