Nyx walks in and grabs a book from the shelf. She begins to read it.
Ashina walks in, heading straight for her favorite section. She grabs a random book from the shelf and begins to read.
Cornelius skips in, hugging a big ram stuffed animal. They were wearing a lot of yellow today, and a very oversized sweater. They were smaller than other people their age, but not necessarily short. They had been wandering around for a little bit, exploring all around their new home. They hadn't looked up until they noticed the polished wooden floors underneath their white sneakers.Looking up slightly, their eyes widened with joy. They loved books! Switching to walking now rather than skipping, they gazed at the rows and rows of books longingly. The stuffed ram now hung at their side, held onto tightly by Cornelius' pale fist.
Nyx groans inwardly. She was hoping to have the library to herself, but someone just had to but in...
Ash was startled, and she looked up from her book with wide eyes. Oh, it's just the ram guy.
Nyx decides to make conversation. Maybe if she talks a lot, they'll go away... It worked with her. "Hi, I'm Nyx, who're you?" she says.
"Ash. Ashina Black," she said softly. "Hi Nyx, nice to meet you."
Cornelius was slightly aware of eyes on them, and turned their head a bit to stare right back. They had an unblinking kind of look, but if they stood in that position for too long, they may zone out, so they turned back around and continued their journey down the rows of books. They had mixed feelings about people. They liked talking sometimes and making new friends was always fun, but actually talking-talking to people was scary. Bowie was different. He liked people, and talked to them. Though sometimes people didn't always understand him, poor thing. Cornelius lovingly stroked the stuffie, attempting comfort.
"Nice to meet you too." Her strategy wasn't working. Ugh. "What's your element or elements?" Nyx asks. She feels someone watching them, and turns her head to scan the room.
"Earth and Air. I turn into a wolf," she said, distracted. "You?" Her eyes flickered from place to place, taking everything in.
"Fire and air. I can turn into an eagle, a lion, and a tiger," Nyx says. Her eyes settle on the form of a person. She turns into a tiger and stalks toward the form. "Are you watching us?" she snarls.
Cornelius' eyes widened, the grayish-brown color clearly seen in the lighting. They shook their head, biting the inside of their cheek hard. She was angry. Why was she angry? They gripped tightly onto their stuffie. Opening and closing their mouth for a moment, they began to feel increasingly hot. Then they pointed to one of the shelves, whispering, "Book." They were perfectly capable of talking normally except when they were anxious. It made Cornelius stutter unless they spoke in short terms only. "Sorry," they said, voice a bit shaky.
Nyx immediately felt sorry herself when she realized that she was the only one doing harm. She turned human and said gruffly, "You have nothing to say sorry for. I'm the one who should apologize." Nyx frowned, feeling bad that she had been so rude.
Cornelius almost instantly smiled, and shook their head. "No, that's okay, I understand!" they said. Then they turned, gazing up at the shelves of books. "Are there any books you like? I don't know what to read." They sounded a bit sheepish when they said it. ((Get it?? XD))
Honestly, Cornelius hadn't read a book in a while. They never really had access to them, so there was no point in trying to work hard to gain access. Speaking of which, why didn't they have access? Unfortunately, they had a huge spot in their brain that was missing. Not literally, obviously, but they couldn't remember the first thirteen years of their life.

Nyx scanned the shelves around them. "Well, I don't see anything I've read here, but I have a book right here..." she goes over to the table and grabs a book, "It's called the History of Elemental Academy. It's about this school. It's mine, but you can borrow it for a while," she says, and smiles.

Cornelius seemed skeptical, and looked over the cover. "How long is it?" they asked. They didn't want to hurt this person's feelings, but they also didn't like long books. This was a predicament indeed. Then a thought occurred to them. "Oh wait! What's your name?"
"Not very long," Nyx says, "And I'm Nyx. What's your name?" she asks. Nyx could tell that the person didn't want to read a long book, so she was glad that the book she brought was very short.
((I gtg. Nuh night!!))"Cornelius Vlampkt! I can turn into a ram!" Cornelius said happily, showing off their stuffed animal, Bowie, to the person. They loved fluffy animals like sheep and rams. They were like clouds! Even bumble bees were nice, because they were also big and fluffy sometimes.

"Nice to meet you, Cornelius," says Nyx. She hands Cornelius the book. "Here, take it," she says.
((Sorry guys))Ash lifts her eyes from her book again when she hears others talking. She slowly walks over, ripping the wolf charm of her throat. Instantly, her wolf Phantom appeared at her side. She morphed into an almost identical wolf, and trotted over.

Nyx watched this. She hadn't thought that that was possible. "Hey Ash, this is Cornelius," she says, pointing to the new person.

Her tail flicked, and she morphed back into a human. "Hello, Cornelius, I'm Ashina. You can call me Ash," she said gently. "Oh, and this is Phantom." She stroked her wolf's fluffy coat.
"I didn't know about Phantom. But that's really cool, how you can call Phantom to your side..." Nyx said, wishing she had a pet as loyal as Phantom.
"Oh, yeah...he's quite protective, so I made him into a charm so he would feel better," she petted his head fondly. "What kind of pets do you two have?"
"I don't," Nyx said sadly. She really wanted a pet.
Cornelius looked between the two, eyes wide. Nyx seemed very sad. They bit their lip, and then gently tapped Nyx on the arm. Slightly holding out Bowie to her, they seemed like it took them a lot of willpower to hand out the stuffed ram. "You- you can hold him," they said slowly, like they were still thinking about it. "He likes new people and his name is Bowie." They looked slightly from the corner of their eye at Phantom, slightly reserved about it. Wolves scared them sometimes, but not all the time. "Hi," Cornelius said softly, staring the wolf up and down. They glanced at Ash, and then back at the wolf. "I like your fur."

His name had been Noro and he was Nyx's best and only friend. Until he got a disease and had to be put down. Nyx missed the dog still. That was back before she ran away.

Ash realized she hit a soft spot, and she touched Phantom on the nose, and he disappeared into a charm around her neck. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry." she said apologetically. "Phantom appreciates it," she smiled softly at Cornelius.
"No, it's just I never had a friend until I got a dog, and he had to be killed..." Nyx's eyes welled up with tears, but none of them spill out of her eyes. She hands Bowie back to Cornelius and asks, "Is there a pet store somewhere near here?"
Cornelius hugs Bowie tightly, smiling to themself a bit. Looking at Nyx with wide eyes, they shrug. "Maybe. I've only been here for a little bit. We can look around, if you want," they said, trying to sound inviting. They loved going to new places! "It would be fun to get you a new pet."Cornelius felt a little bit ashamed. They never really remembered their past. What right did they have to only be happy, while others remembered their suffering? It made them bite their lip. They were a terrible person. Squeezing Bowie tightly, they buried their nose in the stuffed animal, inhaling the smell.
Nyx saw that Cornelius looked sad. "Hey, whatever you're sad about is going to be fine," she says. "What place should we start looking?"
"There might be a pet store around," Ash shrugged. She felt bad that she hurt the other girl's feelings, and wanted to make it up to her. "I can help you look, if you'd like."
"Really? Thanks." Nyx wanted to start looking immediately. "Should we look in the forest?"
She smiled, "We can totally start there." She glanced at Cornelius. "You want to come with us?" Ashina asked him.
"I can't wait," Nyx says. She hopes that Cornelius will come.
"We can go as soon as you'd like," she responded, smiling softly at Nyx. "The rest of my day is open," she turns to glance at Cornelius.

-Flynn entered the library, he had a few books in his hands as he went to return them, not noticing the group of conversing school attendees-
"Hello," Nyx says to the new person. "Are you here for the books, or do you want to come with us to the forest? Me and Ash and maybe Cornelius is going." Wow, she thought to herself, she was really talkative today.

"Okay! We're just waiting for Cornelius to decide and then we'll go," says Nyx.

Ash nodded once at Flynn, "I'm Ash," she said softly, a small smile on her lips.

Cornelius smiled widely, and nodded hurriedly. They were fidgeting slightly and squeezing Bowie as a way of getting any extra excitement out. They turned to Flynn, their eyes staring at him with intensity. "What's your name?" they asked, a bit softly. They cocked their head to the side slightly.
