Amanda | 2 comments I recall reading this sometime between 2010 and 2018 but it could have been printed before then. The plague was combated by everyone intermixing races primarily with those of asian decent to prevent outbreaks. Small pockets of families chose to stay "pure" and not mix. People who have had the sickness are left with bad skin/pock marks. The male lead is investigating something and the female lead who is from one of these families is there in some form of military/protective capacity. The male lead secretly is in contact with an actual deity - odin I believe - and he hears Odin's two ravens in his mind who are trying to convince him to become romantically involved with the female lead in order to tie him to odin for life? America isn't america anymore and the south still has religion but the majority of the "first world" countries do not. At the end of the story the female lead gets posted somewhere and I remember her meeting Loki in human form who says something about Odin letting her slip through his fingers and how he "always wanted his own Valkyrie before". It might be book 1 or 2 in the series. I hope I'm not mixing two different stories in my head but I think its all from one book.
