Please, please, please not Irene Adler again !

The only criticisms I have of the Downey Holmes movies are of the glaring character differences. Holmes should be taller than Watson, and Holmes should be immaculately groomed and dressed (aside from disguises of coarse) with that hawk like leanness. Sounds more like Jude Law ! Perhaps they should have swapped roles ?

I did like the slo-mo thinking of the fight that was developed for the action scenes - very interesting and effective way of showing the action - and I thought the "street" fighting used by the pair of them adding the sword stick and stick fighting was worthy of Shinwell Johnson.

Barbara | 349 comments I just read that the Holmes and Daughter show that the CW network got is not going to be on their fall schedule but will have mid-season debut. Don't know if this means it will step in if something else gets cancelled or they're just doing shorter seasons of their lineup all around.

J. Rubino (jrubino) | 307 comments To the OP from '22, was a little clarification on another Holmes group. Apparently there were two projected Holmes series in '22 that were to be produced by Downey and his wife, Susan Downey, who is a producer. They were to extend the "universe" of Downey's Sherlock Holmes films, taking characters from the third installment and creating new material around them. Unfortunately the third Downey film stalled.
Then there is a projected series based on Andrew Lane's YA Holmes novels to be directed by Guy Ritchie who directed the Downey/Holmes films, which is different from the CW series.

Barbara | 349 comments I heard that there are three more Sherlock series in development - one called Baker Street, one called Moriarty (don't know if its based on those Moriarty books) and one called I, Sherlock, that looks like its animated. Not many details because they're all still in the planninng stage.

Timothy Miller | 20 comments Barbara wrote: "Sherlock and Daughter is now supposed to be on the CW channel's schedule next month."With David Thewlis, who I think would make a better Watson than a Holmes.

Barbara | 349 comments Agree about Thewlis. Not seeing him as Holmes at all.

Barbara | 349 comments I watched about half of Sherlock and Daughter last night. It was meh - not that the cast was bad, but I didn't see any of them as the character they played, and I thought the overall production looked a little on the cheap side. Didn't think it was anything that's going to grab a genuine Holmes fan, but younger teens might like it, which I think is the CWs main audience.

J. Rubino (jrubino) | 307 comments Kidn of agree with Timothy - I watched maybe 20 minutes of the show and while I think Thewlis is a very good actor, something about him just said "Watson" to me. I think he did a bit in the Enola Holmes series, not Holmes or Watson.
I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw, but, like Barbara said, I may not be the core audience.
