TART Challenge - Round 5 - Fast Like Molasses (7)
~KarenH~ wrote: "I just lost my mind a bit and posted our completion before I noticed that Tink's 2nd book wasn't finished yet...oops! Guess that's what I get for trying to do something before the caffeine kicks in..."No worries. I almost checked us in last night too because I was just looking at the book covers and not the completion dates.
Here is your next task!Task 14 - 82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
As a team, select a series and then everyone reads a different book in the selected series. Please include the selected series in your completion posts.
Ok, we picked Vino & VeritasI've still got a few hours left in the book I'm listening to now and really no preference, so I'm happy to wait for others to pick in case any of you have one you'd especially like to read.
Tink Magoo is bad at reviews wrote: "I wouldn't mind trying Headstrong #3 if that's okay with you guys"Works great for me...that's one that isn't immediately available from the library, so not one I'm even looking at! I have about 10 that are currently available and plan to pick from those, so lots of choices no matter what everyone else picks.
I'm leaning toward #2 - Heartscape, but if you want that one Courtney, I'm fine with changing. Won't be starting it until probably tonight sometime.
This is my second book by Annabeth Albert and i'm on the fence. This book is also under 200 pages, so maybe it's the book's length and not her writing style.

Review:
I knew I was going to love this book from the first chapter. Second-chance romances don't always work for me, but this one was just so well done. Definitely a winner.
Skylar and Judson were best friends pretty much from the day they were born, and Judson fell in love with Skylar when he was 13. After high school graduation, Judson moves away to Paris with no warning. Ten years later, Judson is back, and the two reconnect.
I really loved everything about this. The story moved well and had lots of interesting things going on, and the guys were just perfect. Such a sweet read.

I have that same need, Chan...picked book 2 because I knew I had the time to read book 1 first! 😂😂😂

OMGosh...that is too funny, Karen. I would've done the same thing.
What did you think about book 1? have you read other works by Albert?

It's hard for me to really have a strong opinion on book 1 - I was only half listening so I had a feel for the series before going into the 2nd book. I've only listened to a couple of Albert's Christmas stories, I think...offhand don't recall any others, and from what I remember they were cute and fluffy but nothing really special. I enjoyed them for what they were, but I tend not to judge an author based on just their holiday stories since sometimes they're very different from their regular stuff. Not always, but enough that I'm cautious about it. I do think I liked book 2 better than book 1 though.
Good to know. and that's smart with Christmas stories. I didn't think about that. I like to read at least two books by an author before i give up. This was my second by Albert. I read this one last year
and I came away feeling the same way i did with Featherbed.Maybe i'll give her another shot before I throw in the towel.

Hopefully you can make it down to 14 eventually. Mine was super cute! It mentioned a little about the owner of the bar and his boyfriend, but that was about it. Everything else was independent.
I really liked the author's style, so I'm going to try one of her other series and see how it goes.
Here is your next task!Task 15 - 54. Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains, teams decide which.
As a team decide if you are going to read books set in the mountains or on a beach, then read 6 books with the selected setting. Please include the selected setting in your completion posts. Remember to let me know how you know your books qualify, be it title, precis, tags or lists. I need to know where to look to confirm your books!
We chose mountains, and I'm feeling lazy this morning and don't want to hunt to find books, so I'll be doing rereads from one of Katie Ruggle's series...either Rocky Mountain K9 Unit or Search and Rescue

Yours might actually work for me. A second chance romance under 200 pages is a little more believable for me.
Chan wrote: "i can read two books this time around."Yay, she's back! 😁😁 Hope everything went well!
I can read two also.
Chan wrote: "Yours might actually work for me. A second chance romance under 200 pages is a little more believable for me. "It felt really well developed for under 200 pages too. Didn't seem rushed or like it missing something. I do think the page numbering is off though. On my eReader it was 196 pages 🤷♀️

Review:

Now, that's a freaking story! Best thing I've read this year. The plot is just fantastic, lots of great twists and turns, so many surprisingly emotional bits, and the heroine is seriously badass. Smut with a smart plot. Freaking loved it!
I really couldn't put it down. It's pretty high on the smut scale, but as it moves along there's just so much happening. I was getting pretty emotional in some parts. Definitely not what I expected when I went into it. I thought it was written really really well.
