TART Challenge - Round 5 - Fast Like Molasses (7)
Scrap my last post, that book was bloody awful and exactly what we'd been talking about a few days ago with the authors (and every character in the book) constantly mentioning the heroine's weight.Off to find something else.
but it's titled Josh and Gemma make a baby. A Baby causes weight gain. if the author uses pregnancy to talk about a person weight negatively, that would be kind of awful.
This is all before a baby is made. It's based on getting IVF but I stopped before any of that really got going as I had already had enough at page 34
I'm going with this one. People like JA Huss, but I'm wary that I'm not going to like this that much. I've read the synopsis three times and I still don't understand what this is about.
Is there a minimum page count? I can't seem to find it but was thinking of reading two shorter books
Ok, I'm going with
. It's 452 pages, so with the page count from Chan's book (249) we have 701 pages, so as long as Tink and Courtney meet the challenge minimum for their books, we'll meet the page count for the task.
lol dang it. i forgot about the 1000 pages. I usually read books over 300 pages and this time i went for something shorter. I hope you didn't pick a longer book to make up the difference, Karen.I already started listening to this one, but I can find something longer if you had another book in mind.

Well, I did purposely pick the longest book on my M&G that qualifies, but I did it before I looked at your page count! It's an author/narrator combination that I know I can listen to a little faster than my norm, and I should have a lot of listening time today and tomorrow so it was a good time to go with a longer one. Fortunately the timing was good!

Courtney wrote: "I've had that one on my TBR for awhile. Worth a read, or no?"Well....hmm...it has a magic mike feel to it. It's an easy read. It tried to have a small suspense element, but I figured it out easily and early. The beginning was captivating, but the more I learned about the characters, the less I liked the book.
Tiffy, the female MC, grated on my nerves. Her inner monologues of herself and her thoughts of Fletcher (male MC) were awful. She was soooo judgmental of everybody. And thus lies the crux of my issue. When I don't care for both characters, my interest in the story plummets.
Again, it's short (under 8 hours) and really easy to read. I think i'm in the minority here.

Review:
So, sexual harassment in the work place is never OK. Unless your boss is asshole Bill Mitchell. Then...

This book definitely tackles the MCs relationship "Bass-ackwards". What starts as a little sexual coercion turns into a pretty sweet couple. This starts hot and heavy, but simmers into something cute. I really liked Bill and Christina Lee, and I thought the story was fun. Definitely glad I picked it up! Not like any romance I've read before, and I love when I find something different.

your review made me laugh so hard.
I saw the gif first and didn't understand so I read the lines above and then burst out laughing. Paul Rudd is funny and this fit so perfectly with your review.
🤣 I was looking for a gif that said something like 'give me a job' and this popped up and I figured it fit 🤣🤣
Here is your next task!Task 5 - 29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.
Professions such as LEO, military or musicians are ok. Just don’t try to pass off a rancher and a chef as both being in the food industry - they are simply not close enough. Please include the selected profession in your completions post and to let me know how you know the book qualifies - title, precis, tags or lists, including links and any other necessary information. I need to know where to look to confirm your books. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.
Hi Ladies. This is what we have29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.
military
I'm doing this one
750 - 353 (Chan) = 397
So, everybody just needs to read the minimum page requirement.

Wow, I wish I had a short book to take advantage of this, but the only thing I have on my M&G right now that has a military tag is
and it's 428 pages! Oh well...
I'm going to do
. I think it's been sitting on my eReader for over a year now, so it's about time I get to it 🤣

Review:
Not really a lot to say about this one. The writing is OK, there's just not much story. Most of this is conversations between the MCs getting to know each other, and Ben worried that Ainsley is out of his league because her family is so wealthy.
I didn't really like the couple. Ainsley pushes a little much with the whole "I don't need a man" thing. And Ben's break up near the end because it's "better" for Ainsley was predictable and annoying.
The cheese factor level was pretty high, and I have a low tolerance for cheesiness, so not really a good fit for me.
Here is your next task!Task 6 - 22. Read 4 books #5 or higher in a series.

Ooh Karen. I love that one! That and Cameron's are my favorite in the series. It's the reason I like single dad falls for the I'm just going to do my next Seattle Shark book.
Courtney wrote: "Ooh Karen. I love that one! That and Cameron's are my favorite in the series. It's the reason I like single dad falls for the many books so much 🤣.I'm just going to do my next Seattle Shark book...."
I'm doing a reread of the series right now. It's been almost 8 years since I read this one (obviously longer for the previous books) so I don't remember a ton about them, but going into the start of the rereads I remember thinking that Cameron's and Daniel's stories were my favorites. This one isn't far behind though, at least so far!
I really need to do a reread. I have the two newer books marked as to read, but I think it's been too long since I read the rest, so I should do a reread before I get to them.
Kat and I decided a while back that we were going to pick some of our favorite series and do rereads together. Not really buddy reads because we don't necessarily discuss them much, just reading the same book(s) in the same month so if something comes up that we want to mention, we're both in the same place. Since we're practically got a single brain when it comes to reading tastes, we have quite a list of series to work our way through!
