After a heavy read, I was looking for something light and fun. This was definitely that. Chase and Grayson meet in the most unusual way and instantly feel the attraction to each other. Fate keeps pushing them together and they finally give into the feelings and begin dating. There are fun secondary characters and while the story line is a little loose, it's perfect if you need a light read. I didn't fall in love with the characters or get super sucked into the story - and while it's not my favorite by Aimee Nicole Walker, it was a good read.

My friend from the states is visiting this weekend, arriving tomorrow and leaving Tuesday morning. I likely won't get much reading done between now and then. We are taking the train to Florence and having a girls weekend. I am still struggling to get through Guitars and Cages, and since I have a ton of housework to do today in preparation, I plan to listen to Burn Zone so I'll likely have one more for this challenge by the end of day. I really liked Linc and Jacob and their story that brought them to their HEA.

The one area of this book that I felt was left unanswered was the underlying homophobia. I get that Wyatt was his best friend growing up and that he saved his life a few times, but if your best friend can't support your sexual orientation, then they are not your best friend. The fact that Linc agreed to stay away from Wyatt's brother and then kept that promise even after his death was a little off to me. I also felt that the underlying homophobia was the real "challenge" the couple had to overcome, but was never really addressed. So I wasn't sure what was happening there. Not my favorite by Annabeth Albert but I'll continue on in the series.

But I enjoyed it a lot, and really want to read more.
Oddly the house reminded me of a J.L. O'Faolain series.
This was fun, and I'm glad the same characters continue on in the next book.

This was a beautifully written second change romance. Written from the perspective of both MCs, I felt that the real journey was Jax's. He was dealing with some heavy internalized homophobia that had kept him closeted with friends and family. The only person who knew he was gay was his college boyfriend who he ghosted after a family tragedy. After 9 years apart, these two reconnect for a second chance at love.

I don't like when books are full of homophobia, and while I hated reading about it, it was essential to why Jax didn't come out to his family and why he disappeared from college after winter break.

This book was so well written with such wonderful characters and a great balance of steam and angst and second chances and forgiveness and on and on and on. Just loved it.
