We've made it to April, so it's time for a quick backward glance. What were your favorite middle grade reads from March? It's always great to trade recommendations here. Give us your stand-outs!

My personal faves from last month were the Girl Giant duology by Van Hoang ... and the second book in the Myrtle Hardcastle series by Elizabeth C. Bunce.

Girl Giant and the Monkey King by Van Hoang Girl Giant and the Jade War by Van Hoang How to Get Away with Myrtle (Myrtle Hardcastle Mysteries, #2) by Elizabeth C. Bunce

Oh, wow! I would love to read a companion novel! Thanks for that info. I'll have to keep checking my library since they don't have it right now, but I will definitely be putting in on my TBR list.

I have read the first few pages and am liking it thus far.

Justine Laismith (justinelaismith) | 348 comments I managed two books :

Illustrated Myths Legends of China: The Ages of Chaos and Heroes was amazing as most stories are of lesser known ones, or delve much deeper into the popular ones. I also love the fact that it has pictures of museum items through the ages of Chinese history. These items are from regional museums in China and around the world eg Taiwan, USA. Depicting the particular story being described, these works of art and artifacts demonstrate how far reaching the myth and legends are.

Nisha's War is set in WW2, about a biracial Malaysian refugee girl who finds a new life in Scotland after escaping the horrors of the Japanese invasion.

The Boy Who Grew Dragons-Andy Shepherd
Just Jake-Jake Marcionette (he is a kid author!)
The Get Rich Quick Club-Dan Gutman
Stinkbomb & Ketchup-Face And The Badness of Badgers-John Dougherty

Becky Avella (beckyavella) | 22 comments I really enjoyed reading The Beatryce Prophecy. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I loved a book by Kate DiCamillo.
