Dan This discussion topic is created for May's group read, the most popular of 26 available Fritz Leiber downloads on Gutenberg.org's website. Leiber's short story, titled "A Pail of Air" (1951), was originally published in Galaxy Magazine (like April's group read "Coming Attraction" was). This science fiction story examines the frightening scenario of the Earth flying away from the Sun.

Dan This is May's group read. I plan to start on it in the next week or two. If you need a copy of it, here's Gutenberg's: https://gutenberg.org/ebooks/51461. I've got it sideloaded on my Kindle.

Rosemarie I've read this before but didn't remember the ending.
I like the way the tension kept building up to the surprise at the end.
Great story!

John | 1 comments I used to read this as a bed time story to my kids when they were 8 - 10 years old. Great fun. Highly recommend the anthology I found it in, "The World Turned Upside Down" for classic SF short stories.
