The culprit is obvious only because you are teading a mystery story, so the villain cannot be the principal suspect but must be someone you have not suspected, in this case the helpful dectectie who had been kicked off the force. I liked finding how the po.ice had been watching Ingrid all along. The entire subplot with boyfriend Mark struck me as tedious. Jane Casey relies too much on thriller endings because it's not hard to figure out that a character is a villain if he's trying to kill you.
