The Rookie is our Part II Off-Planet Setting Group Read and our April read. Join in on the read and discussion as you please!

Phillip Murrell | 100 comments I've read the first few chapters. It has me a lot more intrigued than I thought I'd be. And that's before any alien player football games.

This book is free on Amazon Kindle right now...picked up my copy today!

Phillip Murrell | 100 comments If the book stays as interesting as the first five chapters were, I'm in for a great ride. I never knew I'd like football with alien players so much. The first book is free, but there is a five-book bundle for $10 at U.S. Amazon. Something tells me I'll buy it in a few days and continue my adventure with Barnes. I hope others are giving it a chance and enjoying it as much as I am. Where else can you have a giant worm look forward to severely injuring the human quarterback on his own team?

Phillip Murrell | 100 comments This book was fantastic. It truly earned all five stars. I loved the football. I loved the gangsters. I loved the world building. I especially loved the characters. The low price of free made book one an easy purchase. The first five books in the series have a kindle bundle for $9.99. I’m already a good deal into book two, which I also love.

I pray more love it and what to share their thoughts on the plot. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite alien race. My vote is for the grasshopper-like Skloran. Their religious fervor for football reminds me of Texas.

Phillip Murrell | 100 comments I loved the first so much, I immediately read the second. I finished that one last night. It was just as great. I slightly preferred the first, but the second had more gangsters and more off-field action.

Phillip Murrell | 100 comments I’ve now read the first five books. Sigh. Books 1-3 are awesome. Book 4 falters. Book 5 was an embarrassment to its predecessors. The author decided to throw in galaxy conquering aliens instead of just letting the story be about space football with alien players.

It went from Flash Gordon to Flash! (Ahh-ahh) Savior of the Universe!!!! In other words, a unique story was ruined by too many layers and inexplicably stoic characters when faced with annihilation.

That being said, book 1 is still fabulous!
