Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments You are not limited to the two chosen books. You may read any book within the theme "Humo(u)r as main page genre" if you prefer.

In order to receive a badge you must:
1. have read the book before or during April 2022.
2. discussed it in this thread. Discussion must be more than "I read the book and I liked it". Discussion requires something more substantial and analytical of what you read. Please elaborate on your thoughts on at least 5 of the following topics:
- Setting
- Characters
- Writing style
- Genre
- How the book made you feel
- Which parts stood out
- Did you/will you read more by the author
- Anything else related to the book you find worth mentioning

This can be done in one post after finishing the book, but preferably in a few posts while reading. Please refer to our group spoiler policy for further information.
3. Report that you have read AND discussed the book in the reporting thread (include a brief summary of what you thought of the book).

General Rules:
1. Please mark your spoilers with the spoiler tags along with mentioning what stage of the book you are at so other's don't get a nasty shock. Chapter numbers/titles are generally best as they are the same across all formats and editions. See our spoiler policy
2. The book may be combined with the Year Long Challenge, Topplers, and Monthly Challenges.

Happy reading!

Silver | 571 comments I will admit that humor is not a genre I often read. I can be very picky about humor. My three preferred types of humor generally tend to be either really dry, a shade darker than black, or the absurd.

Tom Robbins happens to be one of my favorite satirists/humorous authors so I decided to use this month’s theme to read another one of his books.

I am currently reading Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas

Thus far in the book we have a possible stock market crash, an escaped monkey and a couple of mysterious individuals who may have a very crucial role to play.

Needless to say the book is starting off with Robbins’ usual flare and preparing to take the reader on a wild adventure where anything might possibly happen.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Oops! Just realized there was no reporting thread! My apologies. If you finished the book, please go ahead and report. It's there now :)

Ayacchi | 1724 comments I'm listening to The Guncle but I don't think I can finish it on time so I started reading The BFG. Still don't know what will happen next but I like Big Friendly Giant's character. Especially his choosing of words and his 'joke'. Like, "Human beans from Jersey taste like cardigans." And I'm beginning to wonder if what he means with human beans is actually human being?

Janice (jamasc) | 59905 comments I read Stuff and Nonsense to fit the theme of humour listed as a genre on the mail page. It was fantasy about a teddy bear golum. It's style was that of a role playing game in that the gulum gained various attributes as he levelled up. I didn't find it all that humourous, but that may have been my state of mind. The cat provided some humourous moments as it made Threadbare an enemy and plotted to get revenge.
