Stella Atrium | 4 comments Picked up Blackfish City. Lots of terms on the first pages. A subartic city in a glacier age where residents may nanobond with rescued formerly wild creatures. The public narrative is still focused on gender and ethnic identity, but mostly as noise -- or so is my impression.

Fill is the initial narrator trying to accept that he suffers from the current sex disease. Society took all the ills of a decadent world into a future world, apparently.

Those are my first thoughts. Hope I didn't give away too much.

Rebecca I'm at about 20% and having trouble enjoying the story, its jumping around from POVs a bit too often for my taste. Interesting setting but I'm not drawn in and may dnf if the next 10% doesn't go well for me. Others seem to like it tho, so don't let me dissuade you :)

Stella that's more than we usually allow! think feelings, what do you feel about it, rather than what the book is about

Mel | 2 comments I am 15% in and not really feeling engaged with it yet. Perhaps it’s because so far being told from different POV and that can make a book more difficult to engage with early on. Will stick with it for the moment and hope it improves.

Meredith | 1819 comments I am at 23% in. I find the world really interesting and I've liked the intros to the different characters and starting to get to know them and their lives. I do feel it's been mostly (but not entirely) world-building so far. But I think things are going to pick up now.

I feel good...

Marie Chalupová (Levitara) (levitara) | 23 comments I am 22% in and so far I am very intrigued. It's the type of book that just throws you in so it is bit hard to follow/remember all the stuff happening in different POVs. They switch very fast. I do enjoy multiple POVs though so this might be the book for me.

Jen (jenthebest) | 522 comments I started this one yesterday, bought it a couple of years ago so I'm glad to be getting to it. I'm getting a little bit of a Mieville vibe.
