Madison and Carson Spade both profess to care and love Jesse deeply. However, both seem willing to do things that put him at risk. Your thoughts about these two? Why couldn’t they do better?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments I didn't like either one of them before and I have not changed my opinion. They are both very selfish people and are not capable of putting someone else's interests before their own.

Robin (robinmy) | 2485 comments I'll never understand Madison. She seemed to love her son and actually hired Sean to rescue him in Mexico when Carson took him there. But then she turns on Sean and didn't want him getting involved. She knew what her husband was doing with the cartels and knew that it was dangerous, but she likes that money. I think she was in as deep as Carson.

I agree with Anita. Both Madison and Carson were selfish people. They put their interests above Jesse.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1221 comments I'm with you both, Anita and Robin.
Both Carson and Madison, when all was said and done, seemed to have treated Jesse as some kind of commodity, rather than a child to nurture.

I’m joining the choir here. Charlene, your description of Jesse as a commodity is perfect! Their love for him was based on how he made them feel, not genuine unconditional love. If that were the case, they’d both recognize that it is healthy for Jesse to have a relationship with his real father who wants one with him. Maddie showed her selfishness by not telling Sean he was her baby’s father. Carson showed complete callousness by putting Jesse’s life at risk in his zeal to kill Sean. And why in the world did he need to kill Sean, for heaven’s sake?!

These two people didn’t know the meaning of love. They wanted what they wanted no matter who they hurt. Jesse was never a priority.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments Carson wanted Sean dead so he could have his happy family back. Jesse already had his number from when Carson took him to Mexico and put him in life threatening danger. Sean saved him and became Jesse's hero. Carson became pond scum.

Robin (robinmy) | 2485 comments I think Carson also blames Sean for bringing down the cartels which put Carson in the hands of the Feds.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments That too.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9413 comments Mod
It’s so stupid. Carson would have been dead if Sean hadn’t gone to Mexico. Just further confirms he’s morally bankrupt. If he’d truly “loved” Jesse, he would never have ordered his father killed.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments Carson hated Sean because he shined a light on how morally bankrupt he was, and Jesse didn't respect him anymore.
