SOLVED. Adult Western saga not a series written in around 1988

I read this book in 1988, and I remember it was about a rancher family that went into politics. I never got to finish it. I believe the main family had all daughters and it's about 700 pages. Not part of a series. Please help me! FYI: it's not "Centennial" by Michener.
