Cole was completely engrossed in his reading, something that happened often enough when he had private free time, when he heard a voice from somwhere nearby. The second he heard it, he pulled his face away from the book with the speed of a whip, leaving a normal distance between his face and the pages. He straightened himself, and fixed his shirt, and after he quickly brushed his hair back with his hand, he finally looked up slowly, as if he had just been reading casually. However, when he glanced around his particular aisle, there was no one to be found.
Now that his intial panic had subsided, he began to grow curious. Who had sung that song? Someone with remarkable musical talent, thats who. Returning his book to its preious location, he began to quietly move out of his aisle. Giving a quick look around, he casually walked towards the direction he had heard the song coming from, and quickly enough he spotted a young woman, perhaps near 18, and assumed she had been the source of that wondrous voice. He gave her a quick once over hopefully before she had noticed him, and then began to clap. "That was marvelous, milady." He said, giving a low bow. "My name is Cole, madam. May I ask the name of the woman who's singing sounds as heavenly as an angel's?" He asked, giving her his best charming smile.

Ahjiimei continued singing softly in the library until the thoughts that had filled her with such unrest were finally quelled and went back to that small corner of her mind that she never visited, where dwelled many thoughts she never wished to look at or otherwise think of again. Her voice faded and the air around her filled with silence again as footsteps marked the approach of another. Worried she had disturbed the library or was about to be reproached by an angry patron, she grabbed a book on musical theory to hide behind, hoping that if she seemed busy reading, they wouldn't believe she was the one who had been singing. She could hear the footsteps enter the aisle that she was at and stop, making her worry that they knew who she was and was prepared to either apologize or bolt, when she heard clapping. She lowered the book nervously to look over at the man who was clapping, blushing at his words and smile. Embarrassed, she bit her lip for a long moment before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and asking softly, "Y-you liked my singing?"

Cole smiled gently at the girl as he approached, nodding his head. "I would have to be a deaf man not to." He replied. He covered the distance between them in a matter of seconds with his brisk but composed pace, and dropped onto one knee in front of her. Taking her hand in his own, he brought it slowly up to his lips, and pecked the back of her hand before lowering it again. "Do tell, how have I never noticed such a beautiful maiden here before?" He asked, his tone soft and quiet.

Ahjiimei felt a dark blush color her cheeks when he dropped to one knee and kissed the back of her hand. She had not expected that to happen, but then again she had no real expectations of what should happen when she had never really interacted with anyone else before. She ducked her head shyly at his words and said softly, "Th-this is the first time I've been out-er.....been to the castle." she hoped he didn't notice her mistake, she didn't think it would do well saying it was the first time she had left the house. First visit to the castle would be a much better thing to say.
![lil' Lily [ filled with DETERMINATION ] (runelily)](https://images.gr-assets.com/users/1452196293p1/39792905.jpg)
Cole noted the deep blush on her cheeks- who couldn't?- but decided it against his better judgement to say anyything about it. He also noted that she seemed to duck her head a lot, but he quickly returned to praising her, at least until he was alone. It's not that Cole though she was bad or anything, but he tended to notice the negative things about people before the positive, something he expertly covered up though. Perhaps he would have payed more attention to her small slip-up, but he was currently in the process of mentally picking out her good traits so he forced anything negative down for later inspection. She was certainly pretty, no denything that, but so were lots of girls. But what did tand out to him was her voice. Nothing snarky or sarcastic came up, or even a thought to downplay it. Her voice was, quite simply, angelic. "Ah, perhaps you would like a tour then? It would be an honor to show such a magnificent young woman around this lovely castle." He offered, standing up straight again anf quickly brushing off his pants before returning his gaze to her.

Ahjiimei bit her lip as she regarded him for a long moment, wondering why he was so friendly. Not in a bad way of course, just that she had not expected to find someone so friendly so soon. Her mother had warned her that people were mean and cruel, and would hurt her or injure her in some form or another if the chance arose. Especially if they heard her singing. She had said it was why she had kept Ahjiimei locked away in the house, to protect her, but deep down she had a feeling that that was not the case, that something darker was at play that she did not understand.
Bringing herself back to the present so that she did not start to daydream and thus make him perceive her as rude, she listened to his words and gave him a smile. "Thank you, I would greatly appreciate a tour. I'm afraid I only came upon the library by chance, really. I got lost and separated from my father at the same time." she admitted. "He was going to give me a tour, but I think I'd much rather have someone that isn't related to me." she smiled at him. "Its always more fun to make friends that way anyways, don't you think?" Of course, she'd only read in books that good friends were often made through chance encounters, so she didn't know for sure, but it always worked out nicely in the books, some even had friendships blossom into more, though in her case (not realizing that she was pretty) she felt that she would just be lucky to make a friend, much less find someone who would love 'someone such as her', as her mother had often said.
![lil' Lily [ filled with DETERMINATION ] (runelily)](https://images.gr-assets.com/users/1452196293p1/39792905.jpg)
Cole smiled at her as she accepted his offer. Giving another low bow, but this time only briefly, he offered his arm to her. "It would be my pleasure to show you around." He said, quickly perfecting his hair with his hand. He had a habit of randomly neatening himself, probably the result of his constant drive to fulfill his perfect mask, but by now it had become something more of a habit then a conscious effort. Returning his thoughts to the girl, hid face became an unreadable expression of vacansy of sorts. She certainly had unique outlooks, that was for sure, but not neccasarily in a bad way. In fact, her way of making friends seemed quite refreshing, a nice distraction from work and most other bitter thoughts that lingered in his mind. Who knew, maybe his gentlemanly mask would even land him an enjoyable afternoon, something he could definitly appreciate after being so stressed constantly.
He cleared his thoughts, and returned a smile to his face, however this time it wasn't as perfect as the last one, and it was far less pronounced, but somehow, it seemed more genuine. "I think that sounds absolutely lovely, miss..." He trailed off, allowing her to fill in the blank with her name. He was sincerely looking forward to giving this girl a tour now, unlike when he had originally offered just to be gentlemanly, but not really because he wanted to help the girl, but because, quite simply put, he was curious about her. She was unique, refreshing, and a wonderful distraction.

Ahjiimei tucked her hair back behind her ear again self-consciously when he fixed his own hair with his hand. He truly was like a gentleman, a very polite one at that. But then.....even as she thought that, she had a feeling. A strange feeling, but a feeling nonetheless, that perhaps all was not as it appeared when it came to her new potential friend.
She moved to take his arm, but when he trailed off, she blushed bright pink and moved to curtsy instead. "I'm terribly sorry, I forgot entirely to introduce myself. My name is Ahjiimei, Ahjiimei Angel Peterson." she said, raising up from her curtsy to place her hand on his arm. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Cole."
![lil' Lily [ filled with DETERMINATION ] (runelily)](https://images.gr-assets.com/users/1452196293p1/39792905.jpg)
"Ahjiimei..." He murmured, as if playing around with the name in his mouth. After a second of thoughtful silence, he returned both his smile and gaze to Ahjiimei. "A lovely name to match of a lovely voice, it would seem." He murmured. Sure, he head purposely "played around" with the name, and maybe the compliment was just a bit too cheesy, but no one ever noticed so Cole tried to do the same. It was honestly a wonder why everyone called him a gentleman, but then, he supposed they probably couldn't read his thoughts, and perhaps his behavior was a little misleading as far as his true personality went.
Trying to decide the firstt place to go, Cole suddenly remembered a shelf in the library Ahjiimei might like, and decided that would make a suitable first stop. "Actually, before I give you a tour of the castle, I believe you might like to see somewhere within this library" He said, but didn't disclose any more information on it. Leading her out of their current aisle at a slower pace so as not to rush Ahjiimei, he turned and walked down the many winding paths until he reached the one he wanted. Walking into it, he stopped near the edge, right by the shelf he was looking for. Gently taking his arm away from Ahjiimei, he gestured towards the shelf that was lined with music related books. He even saw a book called "Un-sung Singers", a title he found dreadfully terrible, but thought the content might interest Ahjiimei, so he made sure his hands were pointing in the general area of that book.

Ahjiimei bit her lip as he repeated her name, wondering what he thought of it. She'd often considered it strange herself, so she wondered if he thought the same, until he said that it was lovely. She gave him a shy smile and said, "I happen to like the name Cole, and I think it equally lovely." She wondered if saying that was weird, but she truly did think so. After all, the meaning of the name generally meant peoples victory, and what better name is that? She didn't even know if her name had a true meaning, or if it was in fact just something her mother made up.
Bringing her attention back when he started to lead her, for fear in her daydream state she might trip and lead to an embarrassing situation, she followed him with curiosity filling her gaze, wondering where in the library he might be taking her. She looked up at the shelf he gestured to and her eyes widened when she took in the various books. Moving to the ladder that was nearby, she wasted no time in climbing up it to get a better look at the titles. She didn't think about the possibility of being able to see up her skirts (it was something you didn't have to worry about, being on your own all the time, after all) as she climbed. She moved to scan the titles, leaning out precariously from the ladder to do so.
![lil' Lily [ filled with DETERMINATION ] (runelily)](https://images.gr-assets.com/users/1452196293p1/39792905.jpg)
Cole was a little surprised she liked his name. It didn't shock him enough to show on his face, but it did shock him. People hardly ever complimented him a all, let alone his name. And then this girl who he hardly even knew had commented, no, complimennted it. Now Cole was truly intrigued. It wasn't exactly a new or even rare feeling, but still, meeting interesting people never got old, no matter how many he met.
Cole felt a light wave of relief as Ahjiimei seemed pleased to see the books. He wasn't exactly trying to impress her, but now that he knew he had to know more about her, even if only to fill his mind with thoughts other then his hatred towards his brother, it simply wouldn't do for her to dislike him. As she raced to a nearby ladder and began to climb up it, something Cole hadn't anticipated, he watched her climb up it with enthusiasm and smiled to himself. That is, until his gaze drifted from her face to below her skirts.
He swiftly averted his gaze, eyes wide and blush deep. Sure, he wasn't the gentleman everybody thought him to be, but he wasn't a pervert either. But god, had she thought that through at all? Did she really jus climb up ladders in skirts, allowing anybody who happened to come by a full view of her panties? His blush engulfed his entire face by now, and he hid it quietly behind his hand, even though he felt the need to plunge his whole head into a bucket of ice cold water. Actually, it occured to him Ahjiimei seemed inexperienced in, well, most everything. She seemed immensly shy when he had first met her, but he had brushed that off at the time. She had said she had gotten lost, but didn't she know how to ask for direction? And just the prospect of all these books on singing made her go absolutely giddy.
He looked back up to ask her some subtle questions to figure out more about her, but then he remembered why he had looked down in the first place. He spluttered and ended up in a coughing fit, making his already tomato-red face a shade of crimson. God, how could he be so absolutely idiotic. Hoping she hadn't noticed him and was instead engrossed in her books, he moved a little ways so he didn't have such a clear view, and managed to look at her out of the corner of his eye, noticing her precarious position on the ladder. "Do be careful..." Was all he managed before turning his head away and taking huge breaths to calm himself down, and, hopefully, turn his face back to a normal shade of tan.

Ahjiimei was looking at the books nearest the ladder, until she noticed one in particular that she wanted to read. It detailed the different techniques for vocals and she had long wanted to read a book detailing such things in that she might find ways to improve herself. It was, however, very much out of her reach. Determined to reach it, and not knowing that the ladders were on wheels for one's convenience, she inched over as far as she dared on the ladder before reaching out, not realizing at first that the ladder was slowly starting to inch in the opposite direction of her leaning as a result of her weight distribution no longer being centered on the ladder. Her fingertips just barely had brushed the spine of the book when the ladder suddenly slid sharply to the side and sent her tumbling to the ground with a fearful cry.
![lil' Lily [ filled with DETERMINATION ] (runelily)](https://images.gr-assets.com/users/1452196293p1/39792905.jpg)
Cole was too busy calming himself down to notice the ladder slide, but the shrill scream he heard could hardly be ignored. Whipping his slightly less red head around, he immediatly dashed to the area where he estimated Ahjiimei would fall. She fell just little bit farther away from Cole than he had anticipated, but he quickly streched his arms out to cover the distance. As she landed into his arms, he grunted once, mostly from the impact, but quickly straightened his body, and soon found that je could carry her quite easily, what with her light weight and his muscled arms. Not yet putting her down for fear she might have injured herself, his gaze began to sweep across her body, searching for signs of injury or pain. "Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?" He asked quickly, his stern gaze looking into her eyes for only a second before they continued searching her for bruises.
God, how could she have been to careless? Did she think that through at all? Perhaps Cole was just typically an overly safe person, but as a palace nurse, it was technically his job to care for anyone who was injured or harmed, and he took his job very seriously. "Can you stand?" He asked, his voice calming a little.

Ahjiimei had closed her eyes in terror as she fell to the ground, expecting to feel the hard surface upon impact and pain from the fall. She was not expecting to be caught, or the feel of warm, muscular arms holding her safe from harm. She trembled in Cole's arms as she opened her eyes to look up at him, watching as his eyes searched her for bruises or other injury. "I-I hurt my ankle." she told him softly, staring up at him with wide eyes. "It twisted when the ladder moved, I think, i-it really hurts." tears were filling her eyes as she spoke. The sudden turn of events had clearly scared her as she had not stopped trembling in his arms the entire time that he held her.
![lil' Lily [ filled with DETERMINATION ] (runelily)](https://images.gr-assets.com/users/1452196293p1/39792905.jpg)
When Cole felt her trembling and saw the tears in her eyes, at first he thought that perhaps he was acting too stern, but then it dawned on him that she was probably just terrified of what had just happened. Relaxing his expression into worry, he focused all his attention to her ankles while trying to soothe her. "There there, I'll have your ankle fixed in no time." He murmured, his voice face and even touch gentle but firm. "Now, how about I take you to the infirmary?" He suggested, though he was already moving towards the door.
Yes, it did indeed seem like Ahjiimei was quite inexperienced. First of all, the ladder had wheels. Most everybody knew that, and you'd have to be stupid not to know about them. But she didn't seem especially stupid, so that meant it probably just hadn't occured to her that there might be wheels on it.

Ahjiimei hesitantly moved to hold onto him as he started to carry her, not overly worried that he might drop her, but at the same time not up for any type of fall again. When he spoke about taking her to the infirmary, she nodded and said softly, "O-okay....the infirmary sounds like a good idea." she bit her lip for a long moment, then said softly, "Th-the ladders at my house never moved before, I had no idea they would here...I would have been more careful if I'd known..."

Lavender was just having a regular day. She was dressed in her usual; a lilac colored dress with a high neck and a flared skirt, her hair curled to perfection and laying down on each shoulder. She was doing her regular job; pulling research books for the King and his advisors, and even diplomats that needed help with their arguments and cases and such. Just a regular, good day. A pep in her step, Lavender hummed to herself as she took a stack of books from her desk and went to place them back on shelves. She loved even the smell of her library, it was so calming, so prefect. That is, until she saw William. He was an english diplomat, and was always at the castle, and Lavender may or may not have had a terribly serious crush on him. The way his brown hair fell just a tiny bit into his eyes. And his eyes, so big and brown; so sweet and intelligent. She's never actually spoken to him, but he was sure they would be good friends. And that day, William seemed upset, like something was wrong. And Lavender couldn't stand that. She looked at him for a long moment, then took a step closer. "Excuse me, William, is it? Is everything okay?" She asked, trying to act like she didn't see his face in her silliest dreams.

Will leaned against the back of his chair, wondering what the King would end up saying about this. Aria had said she was going to the council room to talk to her uncle about this; they were probably speaking of right that moment. What was she telling him? What did the king have to say about all of this? Attempting to guess was just torture to Will, so he stopped. He was about to stand up to go and find a book he had yet to read when he heard a quiet voice, soon followed by a librarian he vaguely recognized from previous visits to the palace library. He ran a hand through his hair once again, calming down. "Yes-yes everything's…interesting, to say in the least. Thank you for asking," he told her politely, his accent thick with emotion from the previous events. Will noticed a few stacks of books still waiting to be shelved. He wondered if they ever needed help around there; Will would absolutely love to work there until the wedding-or until he went back home. No. Be polite, and don't you dare think once of Aria or I'll make you slap yourself. Go enjoy some peace and quiet for a bit, Will thought to himself, putting on a smile. Places like this were his sanctuary when he was younger, and they still drained all the anger out of him in an instant all these years later. "Do you need any help around here?" He asked the librarian standing in front of him. "I haven't got much to do; I'd love to spend my time here, helping out. If your boss doesn't mind, of course."

Lavender quirked a brow. He said that things had been interesting, but that tone that he was using, well, it sounded like he'd had his work cut out for him recently. "Well interesting as good as long as it isn't harmful." She commented, lifting a book in her hands and placing it in an empty hollow that had been left on a nearby shelf. She had to stand on her tiptoes to reach it, and once she went down onto flat feet again, her blonde curls bounced just slightly. She turned to look at William when he walked over to her desk. He wanted to help her? We'll surely that was a fluke, because a man like William must've had more important things to do than totter around a library with her. She laid her blue eyes on his face and shook her head politely "Oh don't worry Sir, this is my job, Im sure you have more important tasks to do." Lavender said, her voice kind and soft. She didn't want him to be bored there, she would feel terrible for making such a bright friend bored.

Lavender felt a pang of guilt for no reason. She hadn't done anything to Will, but she could tell that someone had hurt him recently. And as weak as she was, she'd like to go fight that person and make sure they didn't make him sad again. "Oh I know, far too often things go badly instead of in our favor. I hope you're okay though." She said sweetly, smiling at him in a way that was more than just politeness. Lavender watched as he took some of the books off of her desk and shelved them for her, she felt a little surprised at how he could just reach up his arm and place the books, instead of her awkward wiggley jumping thing. "I can't believe you want to spend your whole day here when there's a whole palace to explore, but if you want to, yeah you can make yourself useful." She told him, giggling at her own joke. Lavender took a pile of books and separated them by what shelves they went on, "Those are the ones for the top shelves, you can get those, since you're s giant." She teased, then picked up the other books and made her way to the shelves "Im not short if that's what you're thinking, I'm just a runaway fairy." She claimed, her hands easily placing each book. "I know." She blurted out, just a second after William spoke. She looked towards him and her face turned red "I mean...I....I know of that name. William. It's a nice name. Im Lavender Dove, pleased to meet you." She said, hastily turning back to her shelves and trying to act casual.

((Ugh sorry it's so short rn I'm having such a hard time concentrating)

Mari clenched her teeth trying to control the raging feelings of hate inside her. She took a calming breath as she looked everywhere else but Fleur.
Finally she looked at Fleur "It's Marianne." She said through clenched teeth "But I'm doing quite well so, thank you for asking." She said speaking in that false cheery voice of hers "What brings you to the library? I've never seen you here before?" She asked somewhat innocently

"Ah I'm sorry Marrianne and that's good to hear," she replied with a polite smile. She hated that none of the usual tricks worked on this girl as most people liked her paying attention to them, but then most didn't hate her. They disrespected her sure but hate no. " I'm looking for Carter," she said deciding she couldn't say the real reason she was here- looking for the King and her son was an acceptable excuse. It wasn't as if she didn't want to see him, in fact she would like to catch up with him as she had been away for a while.

The library was pretty amazing. Anyone who had been in it could tell you that. But you know what is even more amazing? The youngest Prince of Illea, Prince Zane Schreave. He's just, something else entirely. Anyone who had heard of him could tell you that. So, when Zane enters the library, this are just, well, pretty freaking amazing. Zane was still dressed up--when was he?--and he seemed to look like the same mysterious Prince that got everyone's attention. Except he seemed a bit happier, which was odd. There was a ghost of a smile on his lips, and even his eyes held a sort of softness that you could only find with little girls. But, this Prince was actually happy. Excited even! Why? Simple. He was looking forward to something. And that, was a date with his favorite maid.
There was a section of the library that was more of a lounge area, a bunch of seats and coffee tables and then a very large window that had a breath-taking view of a sunset. Zane asked that the area for the evening would be closed off for him and a specific guest, and conveniently found a nice tray of tea--and cookies!!-- by two chairs. It was great! Sure, a bit sophisticated, but honestly, Zane couldn't always let down his guard. If she wanted to see him she would have to wait until they were in a more... private setting. Which, Zane would like. Zane sat in the loveseat facing the window, looking out to the sun that was slowly slipping away into the shadows. Soon it'd be dark. And then who knows what would happen.

Her smile was clear as she stood there, hands stuck in her back pockets, swaying lightly on her toes back and forth in her spot. She wasn't sure if she wanted to go closer to him, like this might be some trick or a dream. Why else would the most handsome of the Schreave princes ask her, a maid, to meet him in some secret little library meeting. Then again, she had showed up. Amaya's eyes caught on the sunset through the window, enchanted. "Well, you sure know how to pick a place." She spoke quietly, alerting him to her presence. "I did wonder why you wanted to meet in the library, of all places. Now I know." She finally left her spot to move over to him, falling to sit on the love seat right beside him, not shying away or sitting all uptight, but leaning comfortably into the cushions, gazing at him. Like she had yesterday morning at breakfast, she relaxed around him, even if he was a prince.
The view was amazing. The window looked out to a bit of nature, trees and grass that were a vibrant green, and in the distance you could see the province of Angles, lighting up slowly. And then, of course, there as the sky, an ombré of different colors. Starting at a light blue and then slipping into a lavender, and a wonderful rosey pink to finish it out. It looked so relaxing, Zane all but sighed with relief. It felt nice not having to worry about so many things at once. Earlier in the day, or had that been yesterday? Zane wasn't too sure at this point, he could barely remember when things happened nowadays. Anyways, whenever it had been, he had been worried he had shown a bit too much of his true self when he had sat on his mother. Of course, his mother hadn't been surprised—Zane always had trouble being himself with her—but what about the selected? Did they expect him to be like that? They shouldn't. He was the 'Mysterious Prince' of few words. The one that always strikes people's fancy yet no one ever seemed to strike his. Or, no one at the moment except from a very little maid who had wonderfully found her way to their meeting place. And if Zane had thought the view was great earlier, well it just got much better.
"I've been around enough to know where to go if I want to see certain things." He answered, but he didn't turn towards her. Amaya came around and sat beside him, all relaxed the way she had been at breakfast. That's what he liked about her. She didn't get all shy around him or act all uptight. She just acted like he was some normal person, and not a Prince. Zane unconsciously bit his lip, turning his head and taking a peak at a very special lady. After all, Zane didn't invite just anyone to spend some private time with him. Most people weren't deserving of it, and some people he just didn't like enough. But he definitely liked this pretty maid. "How was your day?" He asked, still looking at her. He truthfully wanted to know, and if it was bad, he would try his best to make it better. His day had been okay, just a roller coaster of emotions. Too many for a day, but at least he would get to relax now. Zane reached into his jacket, and pulled out a rose, red like a cherry. He held it out to her, a faint smile on his lips now. "A pretty flower for a pretty girl.." He mumbled, smiling at his own little cliché sentence. But it was true. She was a beauty like no other and Zane just wanted to let her know.

When Zane presented the rose for her, Amaya's smile returned as bright as the setting sun, and she couldn't help the carefree laugh she gave as she looked at Zane. Taking the rose gingerly, she raised it to her nose to inhale its sweet scent, before lowering it to focus on him. "Well you charmer, you. Somehow I get the impression you've wooed girls before." She laughed again, "Maybe it's better not to dwell on where your wooing skills have come from." Since she didn't have a vase she held the single rose for a second. The thorns had been sliced off, the rose as perfect as could be, in full bloom. Admittedly, roses were her favorite flower, as cliché as that was. "Hold still." She murmured, leaning closer to him as if to kiss him. She smelled vaguely of a French perfume, not much but just enough to be enticing, and her bangs fell slightly in her eyes when she leaned forward like she did. But her gaze wasn't on his lips for a kiss, but rather on his ears and hair. Reaching up with the rose in hand, she gently tucked it behind his right ear, smiling at him, eyes bright. "There. I wanted to be able to look at it, and since I plan on looking at you,
But there was something she was dying to ask him. Raising her eyebrows in an inquisitive look, she spoke again, slightly more serious but keeping the light vibe between them, a casual vibe.
