Leena (leena23) | 3786 comments A fury like he'd never felt before rose up in him, his eyes were filled with emotions as he gave her a hard look. "Me? I'm not allowed to be mad at you? YOU FUCKING USED ME ARIA, you used me to get back at your fiancée. How the hell is that fair? Boyfriend? More like payback booty call, I thought I meant more to you than that, but apparently I was way off. Our friendship obviously means nothing to you and your agenda's, so here I am," He held the bottle up that was still in his hand, his smile was steely, "Getting drunk, trying to forget the mess that I just had to witness, and trying to forget how my supposed best friend just tore my heart out of my chest and danced on it like some rave party." Marco was more hurt than even he would admit to himself, he felt like he'd been vulnerable and then she'd squashed it all in his face, and now he was going to put those damn walls back up and never take them back down. Screw it, who needed that kind of let down? Except, except her face, she was killing him with that trembling lip, he wanted nothing more than to either walk out that door, or to draw her to his chest and hold her like she needed. There was a war in his head and he had no idea who was winning.

ᵉˡˡᵃ | 2375 comments Aria was trying to seem strong, but the anger and fury in Marco's voice made her flinch back. He was so mad, and why? Because he thought that Aria had used him, he thought that she was trying to make William feel bad by sleeping with him, and making sure that her fiancé found out about it. He thought she would do such a thing, and Aria felt a burning in her chest. She knew it was ridiculous, the whole idea of it. But Marco was standing in front of her, his heart broken in half, and she felt nothing but guilt. Arias shoulders slumped and she stared up at him wth shock on her face, shaking her head. "Marco no! No I would never do that to you!" She exclaimed. Te idea of hurting Marco on purpose, well, it was sickening, and Aria felt tears start to stream down her face, she simply couldn't help it anymore. "I didn't know that I was engaged, I had no idea I swear! I meant everything I said and I want you Marco, I don't care about William I want to be with you, and I would never hurt you like that, I would never do that to you." She told him, her voice cracking after every other word. Aria took a step closer to him and laid a hand on his crossed arms "When we were together Marco, I meant that. No tricks, no secrets. I want to be yours and only yours. I learned about the engagement when you did." Aria promised, her eyes pleading with him.

Leena (leena23) | 3786 comments Women could make a man feel like crap no matter the time or place, and as the tears began to slide down Aria's cheeks, well Marco felt like he was the biggest jerk on the planet and was highly tempted to comfort her. She stepped forward, her small, delicate, beautiful hand landed on his arm, and that was about when he broke, because she was everything to him, she always had been. With Aria there had never been games, lies, or fake smiles, he could be himself around her, but now... he wanted to give into her, he wanted to just hold her and make those tears stop, but could he? Should he? Marco groaned inwardly, this was not something he was ready for, she'd hurt him, and he felt raw still. Marco raised one hand, and took her chin between his forefinger and thumb as he tilted her head upward some. "You have no idea what you're losing," Marco's words were rough sounding, his emotions still raging inside him, "But... I understand politics," He laughed dryly, "Hell I've lived them my whole life pretty much, and if my parents thought I'd go along with it, they'd probably marry me off too." He dropped his hand and then took a swig of his bottle, he then handed it over to Aria, "Apparently you need this more than I do. Take a drink and suck it up buttercup because you've got a long road ahead of you, and if what you say is true, well it looks like I do too, because there's no way I'm letting you go through this alone." That was when he finally gripped her in a hug, and a hug would be all she was getting, she was to be married after all.

ᵉˡˡᵃ | 2375 comments Aria shook her head, looking at him with a stern expression. He was talking about politics and things like that "this is barely political. William is a diplomat. Marrying a duchess to a diplomat doesn't do anything for foreign relations, and I don't even think this is a usual arrangement. Marco, I'm the second daughter, why am I the one being married off? It doesn't make sense." She said, trying desperately to organize her thoughts so they would make sense to Marco. But then he was handing her booze that she didn't want, and wrapping her in a hug that was half of what she needed. She curled into his arms, nuzzling her face into his neck as she had on their way from the game room to her room. He was her Marco, whether he liked it or not. But he had said it, he said that he wouldn't let her do this alone, and that was a relief. Aria honestly thought she would just shatter if Marco left her. "I don't care about politics." She said, pulling away and looking up into Marcos glazed eyes "I care about us. And I mean us." She said, and in that moment, Aria decided to slant her lips against Marco's. Her engagement was barely real anyway. It was just a man trying to kidnap her for life, basically, so that didn't count at all as romantic involvement.

Leena (leena23) | 3786 comments Well if her father were gaining money then yeah it did make sense, at least to Marco it did. His parents would sell him off if someone were interested in actually buying him, but it was more likely that someone would pay his parents to take him away than to have him there with them. Just his opinion, he was well aware of how much of a pain he was, and he felt no shame in it. He sighed some, Aria's small, warm body, was fit perfectly against him and he could think of no better way to spend that moment right then, well at least after all that had happened. She pulled away some and looked up at him, saying she cared, but he doubted it in the way she meant. Still, she apparently had some sort of attraction to him because she was soon pressing her full, soft, beautiful lips against his, and he found himself pushing her back some, but she was wrapped up in him, and so he finally gave in and kissed her back. It wasn't like the first time, this time he had all sorts of raging, confused emotions to put into the kiss. The bottle of alcohol was set on the counter behind them and he fully wrapped his arms around her waist, encasing her to him. After a moment though he pulled back, enough to where she wouldn't be able to kiss him again unless she climbed him, "I don't feel right doing this when you have a fiancée Aria." He was torn, for the first time in his life really, between doing what he wanted and what was right.

ᵉˡˡᵃ | 2375 comments Aria felt like there might be a chance for the two of them when Marco kissed her back. She melded her lips with his, trying to make him remember why they had gotten together in the first place. It was the passion, it was the love that he really needed to feel just then. But Marcos kiss didn't match her own as it had all day, no, he was upset, and she could tell that from his lips. He tasted like vodka and Aria felt like she could really use some herself, but this wasn't about her, it was about Marco, and his feelings, and what he needed. But soon enough his lips were gone, and he was pulling back, far back, to where Aria had to look up at him to see he steely look on her face. He didn't feel comfortable?? But her engagement was barely even real. "But it's not an engagement!! No one asked me, Marco, I didn't chose William. I want to chose you. I have feelings for you, and I want to be a gooey, sexy couple with you. I want to go to balls and parties on your arm and have your tie match my gown. And I want to sit in your lap at dinner just because it's comfy, and take cat naps with you on picnic blankets in the sun. And you want those things too, you said you did. Im going to find a way away from William. I thought he was a good man, but he must be sick Marco, to want to marry me without even saying it." She insisted, taking his hands in hers and staring up at him. The tears had dried on her bronzed cheeks, and her long lashes had stopped sticking together each time she blinked.

Leena (leena23) | 3786 comments How could she say that it wasn't real? It was written on paper, signed, legally documented and everything, how could it get any more real than the deed actually being done? Marco felt the need to shake her into understanding pass through him, instead he took a deep breath and listened as she went on, her words did much to help calm him, because she was right. That was all exactly what he had wanted, and more. He'd wanted long lazy days on a beach, naps in hammocks, walks down cobbled streets hand in hand, paint fights while redecorating their home, laughing and falling into one anothers arms, little ones running underfoot. But now none of that was possible and he was going to have to help her see that, but how? Marco took her hands in his and kept his expression calm, "Aria I wanted that too. All of it, I wanted things with you that we hadn't even discussed yet, but we can't have that with each other. You're going to have all of that and more with Will, and I... I'll just be the sexy bachelor everyone runs after for the rest of my life," Because I'll never find love after you, he didn't say those last thoughts aloud, and he was trying to be light about his own love life even though he was crushed, "He's a good guy Aria. Honestly I think you should give him a chance kid. And I'll be right beside you, being the best friend, and I'll even be your best man, screw tradition, we'll make them see that you having a best man is essential." Marco really was doing his best to help her with the entire, crap, situation.

ᵉˡˡᵃ | 2375 comments As he spoke, Aria wanted to shake her head. She wanted to plug her fingers into her ears and start singing at the top of her lungs; anything to not have to hear Marco's words. He was ready to give up, ready to roll over and forget that they had something more. How could he do that, when Aria couldn't even look at him without thinking of how his skin tasted when she kissed him? Something broke in her chest, and Aria was terrified that it was her heart. She was crushed, and that was obvious from the look in her eyes. "But...what about fighting?" She asked him, looking up at him with a look that was almost too innocent. "If what we have is real, then why can't we fight for it?" Aria questioned, hoping that he would see her side of things. But she could see his, too, just a little bit. He said that William was a good man, and deep down, Aria knew that. She's known it since he talked to her about respect and how she deserved to be treated, but she surely didn't want to say that out loud. And he spoke about being her man of honor, and that was a good point, because Aria would never get married without him by her side. But oh god, she wanted him to be standing across from her, not behind her. She wanted to be his, and if she married William, well, that would never happen.

Leena (leena23) | 3786 comments (Poor Aria, Fern will be sympathetic >.>)

What was it about this girl that tugged at his heart strings? Marco brought her back in against his chest, resting his chin on top of her head he listened to everything she had to say. Fight? Fight for her? He'd love to, but this was pretty much a done deal, and he wouldn't let her just throw away everything her family stood for, for him. No he would be supportive, and helpful, for this marriage to work. So that everything went smoothly, even if she didn't want it to, yet. Marco could see that Will was a gentleman, so eventually, Aria could be happy, that or she could take him in as her lover later on. Marco mentally slapped himself for even thinking it, but hey it was an option, and it was in his nature to go against the rules of society. "I would fight to save your life any day, but this...." Marco swallowed, hard, "This is something we have to learn to live with, to accept." As hard as it was to say those words, he knew it was even harder to hear them. So he squeezed her some, letting her know that she could lean on him if she needed to. It was time for Marco to grow up, and what better reason than for his best friend? He swore to himself then and there that he would do everything he could to be the man, and the friend she would need through it all.

ᵉˡˡᵃ | 2375 comments Aria had thought that she had no more tears to cry. She didn't cry often, not even as a means to getting what she wanted, because she felt like such a baby doing it. Crying was weakness to her, and she didn't like to have weaknesses. But when Marco crushed her against his chest, she knew that he couldn't have anything good to say. And when he actually spoke, she broke again, and pressed her face against his shirt. She tried not to, tried to bite on her lip and hold it in, but this was Marco; crazy, rule-breaking Marco, and he didn't even think she had a shot at getting out of the arrangement to William. If there was a way to fight it, he would be helping her. Aric would be helping her, too, but his ways would be lawful. And Marco, what she'd had with him was so brief, so fleeting, but it felt like they'd been together for years. They'd just found a new love for each other, and now they were being ripped apart by something so unfair and so cruel that Arias tears cascaded down her cheeks. Not only was her spirit broken now, but her heart was too. She wanted to lay down and sleep for days. She wanted to drink all the bottles of vodka and scotch that she had hidden around her room, and she wanted to kiss Marco until the end of time. But she couldn't, and Aria was shaking, trembling with anguish. "Marco it's not fair.... Im only sixteen.... I didn't ask for this Marco I love you." She gasped out, her breathing terribly irregular. She loved the man that held her, and it was probably only making it worse to say so, but Aria couldn't bottle such a thing up. And she was young, but it felt so genuine. "I don't want to be with him I want you Marco." She muttered, delving into hysterics with the gasps and sobs she was going through.

((Aria = broken?))

Leena (leena23) | 3786 comments She wanted to be with him, and that was impossible, but her plea, the sobs that were erupting from her, the trembling form against him, it was too much, all of it was too damn much. How could he hold his resolve against such things? Marco took a deep breath, trying to make sure that he didn't do anything stupid, he had to be the mature, adult, for once in his life, even when he was half drunk. "Look kid," Marco sat down and held her in his lap, much like a lover, but they could no longer be that, "We all have to do things we don't want to in some point of our lives," His voice felt stuck for a minute, "I don't want you to be with him either, but we have to make do with the hand life's dealt us. Maybe all of our misdeeds are coming to bite us now," Marco shrugged some and kissed the top of her head as he cradled her against him, "I don't know, but we have to learn to handle this. We can be best friends like we always have, but the love, the connection, that goes beyond friends, well we have to bury that deep down, tuck it away, and never let it come out again." His voice cracked some, because he sure as hell didn't want that, but it was the best thing, for both of them.

ᵉˡˡᵃ | 2375 comments Aria felt her shoulders start to relax when Marco sat her down in his lap. It was amazing how that could calm her so, even with it being such a simple gesture. But being close to Marco was al Aria really wanted at that point, so she laid her head against his chest and tried to calm her tears, because Marco was right. He was talking about being smart and taking what she was given, and maybe that was the truth, maybe Aria just did have to accept it. Maybe she couldn't have Marco, and she would have Will instead, and she and Marco would go back to being best friends. It was all very confusing in her head, like a swirl of terrible ideas and tortures smushed into her brain, and it was highly overwhelming. So Aria did the only thing that she thought could help her; she tried not to think. "I can't lose you, though." She said softly, smoothing her hand on his chest to try and soothe him, because she could hear the sadness in his voice too, he was just as happy as she was about all of this. "I need you, liver or not. I wish I could be with you Marco, but maybe you're right. Are you sure you'll be my best friend again? I love you so much, I can't lose you over this..." Aria said, her bright eyes staring up into his with worry. It was all too much for Aria, all the decisions that had been made for her in the past two hours alone was unsettling "Do you think it's possible?" She asked "For me to be happy with William, I mean." Aria clarified, her eyes holding insecurities that she only ever showed to Marco.
