Is it like we need to read a book that falls into a category for each year of the decade?
Say Category =Fantasy.
So read books that belong to Fantasy genre published in year 2011,2012 .... to 2020.
So 10 books belonging to 1 category that are published in each year of the decade .
Am i correct?

Or can she/he join another of the teams. Say, if 15 are interested we can make teams of 3. If some odd no. like 19, one team can have 4 and the rest 3? (Unless, someone does want to go solo)
We have five so far, so its two on each team for now, fifth have to wait till another person sign up. But I will ask someone to join to even out the teams with three members on each team to start the challenge with.
After that whoever sign up have to wait till we have enough members to make a new team or even out the existing teams.

I would love to join but I get very less time nowadays . would surely have joined if this was a personal challenge.. but being a team challenge I am worried of letting down my team , which is invariably going to happen.

@Em, the duration is whichever team completes the decade first and wins? Or we continue with decades till the 2022 year end (or some particular month) and whichever team has max points wins?
@Leena - fastest wins.
@Bookworm - we are doing 2011-20 first, then 2000-10. Both teams going to have same numbers of points as they are given on the bases of books completed.

Ohok. Yeah. I thought once a decade is complete, the team that completes it first gets bonus. It's in your description, 1st msg.
I meant team to finish a decade will get bonus. And if others wants to do a 2000-10, we can do that too. :)

Ok. I mistook it as only fastest team gets bonus(when it completes a dec). That clears it. :)

+1

visalakshi, the genre of the book will be what's mentioned in the main genre on GR page

But we can only consider a book for a single category

but my problem is I wander to out of challenge books very soon. Usually to newly released books...

ikr!
that's why I made the challenge flexible. :)

I have assigned the team members. If one wishes to change the name of the team, you are most welcome. :)

The purpose of this challenge is to read books from previous years. I don't know about others but I usually get distracted by new releases which I see repeatedly on my GR feed. I jump the wagon and so ignoring what is already been on my bookshelves for years. So one can also say that this a way to clear out some of those books from my to-read shelf.
This is how it works, I have prepared a list of genre/categories. Suppose some reads The Fifth Season, Little Fires Everywhere, The Travelling Cat Chronicles, and Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood and so on. And this is how they will cross out the years and categories.
2011 - Award - Hugo - Blackout
2012 - Translation - The Travelling Cat Chronicles
2013 - Book to Movie - Allegiant
2014 - Fantasy - Words of Radiance
2015 - sci-fi - The Fifth Season
2016 - Non-fic - Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood
2017 - Fiction - Little Fires Everywhere
2018 - Horror - Dracul
2019 - YA - On the Come Up
2020 - Mystery - The Night Swim
Hope above list cleared how this challenge will work.
