I'm not, but it was discussed that at some point after the selections Aric might die. Might! Might not. It was just an idea thrown out that he dies so Oliver can be king, but it's a long way off and might not even happen until well after the kid's selections.

sometimes, i think about character deaths... then i get emotional. I MEAN LOOK

He paused, thinking over the sentence he needed to say. Truthfully, he wished he didn't have to say it. He hated being the bearer of bad news, but he had to tell them. They needed to know. And so, the doors of the Dining room were opened, and the chatter ceased, all heads turning towards the visitor. And all the heads wished they hadn't once they heard what he had to say.
