Vanessa (thehispanicbookworm) | 338 comments I know I'm not the only one that gets into these slumps. Is anyone currently in one? Has anyone recently overcome a slump that is willing to share how you got out of it?

Katie (prelogk) | 2 comments Hey Vanessa! I'm in a slump right now and I didn't even realize it until I read your post! Usually when I'm in a slump I re-read a favorite book to remind myself how great books are. For me, that usually ends up being Harry Potter!

Brittney Schmidt (schmidtyoushouldread) | 68 comments Yes!! Thank you so much for saying this. I have been in a slump :( can’t seem to get invested in anything!

Perkins (k8ln14) | 37 comments I was in a reading slump for a while because I was going through a lot and was using different methods of distraction instead of depersonalization by slipping into books.

I had to fix the issues holding me back first and get a little more comfortable in life and settle back before I could dive back into reading.

But that might be like a ton extra introspection, and less deeply:

You could try putting on some lofi music and find a subject you’re really interested in checking out. Dark Matter started me back on catching back up on books because the writing style flows like water and the subject matter is definitely a realm I don’t normally find myself in, but it is captivating. Try finding an author with an easy to digest writing style to warm yourself back up to where you were pre slump.

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 710 comments OMG I was in a slump for two weeks!!! I started reading "The Goldfinch" and every time I picked that sucker up I started reading I'd fall asleep!!! I finally gave up and moved on to another 400 plus page book, and finished in two days!! Goldfinch is a 700 pg book, I should have finished with that in 4, 5 day max.

Trisha | 1903 comments Yes, The Goldfinch was a depressing, soul-sucking story! I read it with 2 friends as a buddy read (and we met weekly for check-ins) Without them, I never would have finished it!

so glad you're out of the slump!!!

Vanessa (thehispanicbookworm) | 338 comments I'm still in a reading slump, I have been in one for months. I've been looking into joining a book club, hoping that helps me get out of mine.
