Jacqs | 2 comments It's been driving me crazy for at least a decade. The book I'm looking for is a romance novel. From the early 2000s or prior. The details are fuzzy. The main characters are a handyman or carpenter (possible name of Michael) and a lady who I *think* inherits a house that needs some work. She might have just bought it, but I think she inherited it from possibly her Aunt. The guy is grumpy. The most memorable scene is where he is at the bottom of the stairway and he looks up to see her walking down the stairs, I'm not sure if he imagines it but things get smoky and he sees her slink down the stairs as if she's a lounge (old jazzy lounge, not stripper) singer. I am not sure if she's actually channeling a spirit of (possibly) a relative or if he just thinks she's pretty. I know this is a long shot, but i sure wish I'd never gotten rid of this book.
