Thanks Barb for this challenge!
Since the old thread was getting long, we've decided to start a new thread for this ongoing, no-deadline challenge. If you're in the middle of the challenge in the old thread, you do not have to start over if you don't feel like it. You will still be able to update your old challenge posts, but you will not be able to post any new posts. Just post your next update in this thread and I can create a link for you here. New participants are welcome to jump right in! :)
***************************************
Everyone has his or her favorite comic strip, with a cast full of characters we love – or love to hate. For this challenge, we’re going to read through the funnies section of the newspaper. Choose as many – or as few – of the following comic strips as you like, then see its corresponding list of characters. Spell out the character names using the first letter of any word in a book title (other than A, An, And, At, For, In, Is, Of, On, Or, The, To, With) for each letter in the name. You may only use each book for one letter.
ETA: If a book title begins with any of these words EXCEPT A, An and The, you MAY count that word in this challenge. For example, if you read Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, you can use that for A (And), T (Then or There), W (Were) or N (None).
ETA #2: For those comics that have an X in one of the character names, I'll take any title that has an X in it somewhere. Since this is a title-based challenge, author names cannot be used, and X will be the ONLY letter with a special allowance.
ETA #3: You are to spell out the character names using the FIRST letter of any ONE word in the title of the book, with the exclusions listed above.
If the name of the comic is not also the name of a character, you must read the name of the comic too (for example, Baby Blues). If the name of the comic IS a character name, you don’t have to read the name of the comic in addition to the characters (example: Dilbert) – unless you want to. It is NOT necessary to read the parenthetical notes; those are there simply to explain who the characters are :)
In alphabetical order, here are the comic strips to choose from. Character names are in the posts below, these links will take you to the appropriate post:

CHALLENGE RULES - PLEASE READ!
See this thread for more detailed rules for CCC challenges.
❖ If you want to participate in a challenge, sign up by posting at least a partial list of the challenge requirements. This gives us a post to link you to, which you can use to update your books as the challenge progresses.
❖ Books must be at least 150 pages long (unless they are graphic novels, see below) and may only be used for one task in this challenge, but cross-challenge posting is encouraged.
❖ Graphic novels must be at least 300 pages long, but two books can be combined to make up the page count as long as they both meet the same criteria.
❖ For each book you read, please post a link to the title* and mention the author and the date you finished reading it.
❖ If you want the challenge moderator to verify those books as you post them, please copy/paste your update into a new message. If you do this while you still have the Edit window open, it will copy all of your formatting, etc. too. It will make it easier on the moderators if we won't have to scroll back through the entire thread looking for "message #15," or to follow links back to an original post.
❖ When you complete the challenge, please post your entire list as a new message to make it easier for everyone to see what you’ve read :) If you don’t repost your list, your name will not be added to the list of those who have completed the challenge.
❖ Rereads are allowed, as long as you read the entire book and not just skim the best portions! :)
* If you don’t know how to post a link to the book title, cover or author, see the instructions HERE.
